Meghan Markle is being sued by her half-sister, Samantha Markle, for "spreading lies" in her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.
A lawyer acting on behalf of the Duchess has declared that the lawsuit is "baseless and absurd." Samantha wants to dispute the "rags to royalty" narrative.
This isn't the first time the two siblings have butted heads. Meghan has had a tumultuous relationship with her family, who have seemed more than happy to go to the press with private information about the Duchess.

Big Brother contestant Samantha Markle – who has the same father as Meghan, – has argued that the Suits actress’ "rags to royalty" narrative is "false" and, according to the documents, disputes the Duchess’ claim she was an "only child."
The 40-year-old former actress and her husband, Prince Harry, sat down for a tell-all interview with Winfrey last year when they detailed their experience as part of the Royal Family in the UK. The interview spoke about Meghan’s mental health struggles as well as allegations of racism.
Samantha Markle has also claimed her estranged half-sister's comments have damaged sales of her autobiography, 'The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister', stopped her from getting work, and caused her both emotional and mental distress.
Samantha Markle Accuses Meghan Of Spreading Lies
TMZ has obtained the lawsuit where Samantha accuses her half-sister of spreading lies to promote herself. She uses the fact Meghan told Oprah she was an 'only child' despite sharing the same father as Samantha and her brother Thomas.
She also disputed Meghan’s claim that she’d last seen her half-sister ‘at least 18, 19 years ago and before that, 10 years before that’, and the claim that Samantha only changed her own surname back to Markle when the Suit's actress began generating headlines for her relationship with Harry.
Samantha also claimed the mother of two has made up the stories where she spoke about growing up in ‘virtual poverty’ because her dad paid for her to attend dance and acting classes, and "elite and expensive private schools."
A lawyer acting on behalf of the Duchess has branded the lawsuit "baseless and absurd." The royal couple were recently seen attending the 53rd NAACP Image Awards.
In a statement, her lawyer Michael Kump declared: "This baseless and absurd lawsuit is just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior. We will give it the minimum attention necessary, which is all it deserves."
The Duchess’ made claims to hosts Oprah and Ellen DeGeneres that she worked hard to put herself through university, Samantha claims their father, Thomas, covered the costs of Meghan’s tuition and living expenses at Northwestern University.
Samantha accused Meghan of lying about her and her childhood as part of a calculated effort so they ‘could not interfere with or contradict the false narrative and fairytale life story concocted by’ the Duchess.
