Michelle Pfeiffer, 63, has always kept her personal life private. Sure, she shares some glimpses of her home life on Instagram, but fans still wish they knew more about her 28-year marriage to TV writer and producer, David E. Kelley, 65. It's widely known that the married couple met on a blind date in 1992 and were married after less than a year. Since then, they've been inseparable, making fans curious about the secret to their "perfect" marriage. Fans also wonder about the actress' relationship with her children, Claudia Rose Pfeiffer, 28, and John Henry Kelley, 27.

Pfeiffer adopted Claudia in 1993. She was still single when she started the adoption process. In June 2021, the French Exit star posted a recent photo of her daughter. However, fans still haven't seen her grown-up son. Not much is written about him either. The only photos of him on the internet are all from his childhood when he would go with his parents to red carpet events. It makes you question what's really going on in the Pfeiffer-Kelley household. Here's what we know.

Michelle Pfeiffer & David E. Kelley's Secret To A Long-Lasting Marriage

Pfeiffer revealed in February 2021 that she doesn't plan on working with her husband, the Big Little Lies creator, because it might ruin their marriage. "I've seen a lot of couples where they seem to have a really great marriage, and then they work together and next year they're filing for divorce," explained the actress during an interview with The New Yorker. Well, that's probably a smart move. After all, Brad Pitt, 57, and Angelina Jolie, 46, announced their split not long after working together on By the Sea.

Now, before you say Pfeiffer is being too superstitious about it, it's totally understandable why she's protective of her marriage. The Scarface star immediately knew that Kelley was "the one." In an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2007, she said that her future husband was so supportive when she finally got custody of Claudia. They'd only been dating for 2 months back then. "When she came, he and I had only been together for about two months," she recalled.

"So we had this child with us right away, " she continued. "And most people don't have that. But I really got to see him in a situation that certainly would separate the boys from the men. Obviously, he really rose to the occasion." They've also kept the romance alive in their marriage all these years. To this day, the Batman Returns actress still gushes about how "cute" her husband is. "I’ve never met a person who has more integrity than my husband. There’s his humor and intelligence, too, and he’s really cute — all those things," she said.

Michelle Pfeiffer's Relationship With Her Children

Pfeiffer once took a break from acting to focus on raising her kids. She's really established a solid relationship with them throughout the years. "Raising kids is just consuming," she said. "And before I knew it three and a half years had gone by, and then it was five years... Then I must have been hankering to work again because I started thinking about it, and then my kids were ready for me to go back to work." Her family is a top priority over her career.

However, there was a point when Pfeiffer felt that she became "unhirable" due to putting her kids first. "Well, the first thing that comes to mind is I'm an empty nester now," she said of having more free time because her kids are now grown-up. "I've never lost my love for acting. I feel really at home on the movie set. I'm a more balanced person, honestly, when I'm working. But I was pretty careful about where I shot, how long I was away, whether or not it worked out with the kids' schedule. And I got so picky that I was unhirable. And then... I don't know, time just went on."

But that doesn't matter to the actress who sees her children as a blessing. "Boy, there's nothing typical about my girl," said the Stardust star when asked about her daughter. "She's a force to be reckoned with, and an amazing human being. I wanted her to be a really independent, outspoken young woman, and I sure got that! She's also very creative and inquisitive. And what's exciting about this age is that she's really coming into her own. She's everything I'd hoped she would be."

She also shared that Claudia gets along well with her brother, John. "They've been close their whole lives," Pfeiffer said. "And they're close in age. But don't get me wrong: They have their moments of sibling conflict. Don't we all? She added that the siblings also had interesting differences when they were younger. "When they were little, they couldn't have been more different," she said. "John was into trucks and Claudia was into kitty cats, and he was eating bugs and she wasn't. But I just feel like I've been so blessed to have these two children." What a lovely family.
