Kyle Krier assumed his dog Bo was lost forever after he disappeared one night and never came back. Kyle’s wife Laura had let the dog out one evening and he took off. Although the family, who lives in Concordia, Kansas, looked for Bo for hours, they couldn’t find him. They finally returned home to wait and see if the dog returned on his own.
After nearly giving up hope, Bo, a black lab, was spotted six miles from the family’s home, though he wasn’t alone. Laura had received a call from a neighbor who had almost hit the dog on the road. The black lab was accompanied by a white lab and a goat. Laura immediately called her husband who left work to search for Bo.
He spotted the three new friends in a cut bean field on the east side of the highway. Once he reached the animals, Bo and the other lab climbed into the truck, while the goat cautiously followed. Once back home, Bo immediately went to his owners’ bed to lay down. A few days later, the couple found out that the goat, named Libby, and the other lab, named Ozzy, belonged to Kyle's next door neighbors, Chris and Shawna Huggans, who had also been searching for their missing pets.
Kyle, who managed to capture everything on camera, is still amazed at how this trio found each other. Shawna says it is hard to say if Bo, Libby or Ozzy were responsible for setting off on the adventure, though she has no doubt that they became fast friends. The family expects the trio to get together again soon.
Bo’s adventure has reminded many online of Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, the 1993 adventure film, in which Chance, a rebellious American Bulldog voiced by Michael J. Fox, Shadow, a clever old Golden Retriever voiced by Don Ameche, and Sassy, a acerbic Himalayan cat voiced by Sally Field, have to find their way home after getting lost in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Kyle says that many friends found the story hard to believe, though after watching the video, they know it happened. The family is used to Bo’s hijinks since he’s so full of energy, yet they admit that he’s the nicest and sweetest dog. Apparently, Libby and Ozzy agree.
