When it was announced that Disney was going to buy Fox, there was a lot of excitement among movie fans. On the other hand, there also were some avid film fans that were left worried which makes sense since, in the months that followed, several film projects were left in limbo due to the Disney Fox purchase. On the other hand, almost immediately after the purchase went through, it was made clear that the Deadpool film franchise would continue as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Given the fact that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been family-friendly throughout its history, a lot of people were surprised to learn that the R-rated character Deadpool was joining the franchise. Of course, there is one main reason why Disney was excited to make a Deadpool movie in their cinematic universe, the Ryan Reynolds-led films have been very successful.
As a result of how popular the Deadpool movies have been, many moviegoers have grown to love the actors that headlined the two films. However, that doesn’t mean the people who starred in the Deadpool movies have been immune to controversy. For example, after a series of controversies, TJ Miller’s career has hit the skids since nobody in Hollywood wants to cast him anymore. On top of that, one of Deadpool’s most popular stars was once called out by their ex in a very public way.
Angry Ex
In the Deadpool movies, the supremely talented actor Morena Baccarin has played Vanessa, an extremely interesting character that the titular character falls in love with. Unfortunately, Baccarin’s character was fridged in the second Deadpool film to the irritation of many film fans. However, it seems likely that Baccarin’s character will be given a lot more to do in the upcoming third film which will likely mean that the actor will become even more beloved.
Even though so many people adore Morena Baccarin because of her seemingly effortless screen presence, it is nearly impossible for someone to be loved by everyone. For example, in the case of Baccarin, it is very clear that at least one person has a big problem with Morena, her ex-husband Austin Chick.
After Morena Baccarin first rose to prominence due to her starring role in the much-beloved show Firefly, she married a film producer and director named Austin Chick in November 2011. During their marriage, Baccarin and Chick had a son together before he filed for divorce in 2015 with their split being finalized the following year.
Of course, most couples that get divorced go through a lot of feelings of loss. When it comes to Austin Chick, however, he seemed to feel one main emotion after his divorce, anger. After all, Chick would go on to very publically accuse Baccarin of cheating on him.
Following their divorce, Morena Baccarin and Austin Chick found themselves in court battling for custody of their child. During those proceedings, Chick filed paperwork accusing Baccarin of stepping out on their marriage. According to Chick, Baccarin informed him that she was 3 1/ months pregnant at the time which as Chick wrote in the paperwork was interesting due to the timing. "This places the moment of conception right in the first week of June, 2015, the time she was telling me she wanted to work on our marriage and well before we stopped sharing a bed."
After Austin Chick accused her of cheating in court, Morena Baccarin filed paperwork with a different version of events. "In March 2015, Austin and I were talking about separating as I told him I thought our marriage was not working and we should possibly divorce." However, according to an Entertainment Tonight report, Chick was totally blindsided by Baccarin's pregnancy and new relationship. While Chick didn’t comment on that report, he had to know that the world would learn that he’d accused Baccarin of being unfaithful in court.
Happily Ever After?
Since Morena Baccarin’s divorce, she has seemingly gone on to find a great deal of happiness. After all, Baccarin went on to marry the man who fathered her second child, Ben McKenzie. While there isn’t much that is known about McKenzie and Baccarin’s daughter Frances, the pair seem to be doting parents whenever they’ve been spotted in public.
In addition to getting married in real life, Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie also co-starred as love interests in the show Gotham together. As a result, viewers have been able to observe how much chemistry the two performers share. On top of that, when Baccarin and McKenzie have been asked about one another during interviews, they both seem to glow. Hopefully, that means that they truly will get their happily ever after ending together.
