Seeing a musician on a kids tv show is nothing new and we've seen several stars make cameos and guest appearances on these programs to gain a new fan base or to even give themselves a wholesome image.

However, not all of these famous guest appearances on kid shows have gone smoothly. Shows like Sesame Street are known for their celeb guests, but unfortunately, one star's outfit was so controversial, the show ended up pulling the episode from their show for good. And, there have even been instances of metal and hard rock musicians attempting to make themselves more "kid-friendly" by appearing on these shows, but it only made them look even more intimidating.

10 The Backstreet Boys In 'Arthur'

In their heyday, the Backstreet Boys were on just about everything, including one kid show in 2002. The boy band was turned into rabbits and bears for an episode of Arthur titled "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll," but what made the episode awkward was the character Muffy.

In the episode, Muffy has a fantasy about Nick Carter, but it appeared that she bounced around from being a fan of his to Howie, and then A.J. Apparently, she wasn't too much a fan of Kevin or Brian.

9 Katy Perry In 'Sesame Street'

Several musicians have made appearances on Sesame Street, including Elvis Costello, Destiny's Child, and Billy Joel, but when songstress Katy Perry made a cameo, recording a parody of her hit song, "Hot N Cold" with Elmo, parents were not too pleased.

It wasn't the song that parents didn't approve of, but Perry's wardrobe, which was deemed too risque for a children's program. Several people on YouTube were bothered by Perry showing off too much cleavage, and it resulted in the broadcast removing the parody music video of the show. However, people can still watch it on YouTube.

8 Alice Cooper In 'The Muppet Show'

Alice Cooper appeared on an episode of The Muppet Show back in 1978 and it was downright bizarre. The hard rock musician plays a worker for the devil and in one clip dresses up like Dracula while singing, "Welcome to my nightmare," making it one of the show's creepiest episodes to date.

The episode was very eerie and it didn't help that Alice Cooper kept his infamous creepy clown makeup on the entire time, especially for a children's program.

7 Macklemore In 'Sesame Street'

Macklemore made an appearance on Sesame Street back in 2015, and while the artist is extremely talented, his rap only focused on trash while literally sitting in a trash can. The rap would have made more sense if it discussed the anti-bullying movement since Macklemore did create an important Anti-Hate PSA with Ryan Lewis back in 2014. However, it appeared that it made more sense to do a parody of his song, "Thrift Shop" with Oscar the Grouch about finding the grossest garbage.

6 KISS On 'Scooby-Doo'

The rock band KISS made an appearance on Scooby-Doo, starring as the biggest rock band on the planet earth who help Scooby-Doo and the gang save the day from the Ghost of Hank Banning.

What made their cartoon cameo awkward was the fact that KISS, dressed in their infamous attire and face makeup looked more like the show's villains than heroes. And, it was even weirder when they played their metal songs on a children's program.

5 Lady Gaga In 'The Simpsons'

While The Simpsons is technically a show for older audiences, it is still a cartoon so we've added it to this list. According to Vice, the worst episode of the show was when they gave Lady Gaga a cameo. After Lisa Simpson finds herself in a state of depression, Lady Gaga comes to Springfield as a "God-like" figure to teach Lisa Simpson the meaning of happiness, and it all goes downhill from there.

According to Terrible TV Shows, the episode was not favored by the audience because "it's literally a 22-minute Lady Gaga advertisement and goes on for too long," while it also ended up being "messed up and nonsensical."

4 Justin Bieber In 'Family Guy'

There have been several stars who have made cameos in Family Guy, but the episode titled "Lois Comes Out Of Her Shell," maybe one of the most awkward episodes.

When Lois Griffin adopts a younger lifestyle, she ends up sneaking into Justin Bieber's show, intending to seduce the young star, which just seems very inappropriate and creepy. To make matters worse, when Peter Griffin burst into the room, he beats up Bieber pretty badly, leaving him bruised and bloody on the floor.

3 B2K In 'Static Shock'

Not many people might remember the superhero cartoon Static Shock, but it did manage to get one of the most famous boy bands at the time to appear in one of their episodes.

In season four, the show featured the R&B group B2K, but only for a few seconds, as they sang their song, "Pretty Young Thing" during their concert. And, not only was the animation pretty bad, the cartoon versions of the four men looked nothing like them.

2 Jay-Z In 'Secret Millionaires Club'

The Secret Millionaires Club followed billionaire Warren Buffet who becomes a secret mentor to a group of kids interested in business. In one episode, the kids meet billionaire rapper Jay-Z, whose appearance is short-lived and unenthusiastic. In all honesty, it sounded like the rapper did his line in one take, and did not provide any emotion or energy while delivering his lines.

1  Marilyn Manson In 'Clone High'

Marilyn Mason's appearance on the cartoon Clone High was awkward because it showed that the metal musician had somewhat of a "soft" side. The artist starred as a rock star and "licensed doctor," who sings to children about the importance of the food pyramid.

In one part of his song, Manson sings about limiting servings of fatty foods and sugars, and gives his best death growl as he tells kids they'll "die" if they do not listen.
