MTV is almost infamous for its '90s and '00s-era shows. Many of them seemed to be huge hits, but then they disappeared, never to be heard from again. Even the 2011 debut 'Awkward' ended with everyone wondering what happened to its star, Ashley Rickards.

So for anyone that still remembers 'My Life as Liz,' the 2020 "mockumentary" show on MTV, it's unclear why the show ended and how. The bigger question, though, is where is Liz today, and what's she up to?

Why Did MTV's 'My Life as Liz' End?

Though 'My Life as Liz' survived two seasons, MTV pulled the plug before the third was under way. Though viewership was decent, critics ripped the show apart, with some calling it just another "fake reality show."

Still, one critic even pointed out that "it's weird enough to be compelling." And that was one reason why fans loved it. Despite the super-scriptedness (the voiceovers were a clue that Liz's dialogue wasn't her own), it was intriguing.

But of course, fans don't always dictate the future of a show, despite their pleas. While a lot of complaining and petitioning may have worked out for, say, the 'SATC' reboot, other shows aren't as lucky. 'My Life as Liz' ended, and its 'stars' faded into oblivion.

What Is Liz From 'My Life As Liz' Doing Now?

When the show aired, a decade ago, Liz Lee was (apparently) a high school senior. So, fans can assume the former actress is about 28 today. But fans haven't forgotten who she was on MTV years ago; they still pester her on Instagram begging for a reboot. Liz seems pretty busy for that, though.

For one thing, she went to college (though part of that was seen in season 2), and didn't stop at a bachelor's degree. One of her posts notes that she had her thesis review sometime in 2019. In other posts, though, she apologized for not being as active on social media and attributed it to preparing for her 'thesis exhibition.'

Clearly, Liz has a specific educational and creative path, and it includes performances of a hard-to-categorize variety. She's still acting, though not on networks like MTV, and instead on local stages.

But she's also a proponent of social justice causes, dedicating her bio to a link-out of resources for people in need (and those who want to help others).

Liz really seems to have taken a less-traveled path post-MTV, and her fans love her for it. While they wish they could get a bigger glimpse into her life today, suffice it to say it's just "weird enough to be compelling" just like her former reality show.
