Thanks to the rise of streaming, anything is possible on TV. Netflix is leading the charge with its offerings, and they have everything from new Korean dating shows, to spin-offs from hits like The Witcher, and everything in between. There's something for everyone, which makes this quite the time to be alive for fans.

Stay Close is a brand new series on Netflix, and it has caught the attention of many. There are a number of questions surrounding the new show, including where in the world it is filmed.

Let's take a closer look at Stay Close and learn about where the show was filmed.

Netflix Has Amazing Original Content

Netflix is a powerhouse on the small screen, and a number of factors have contributed to its global domination. While being home to great shows from yesteryear is a major factor, churning out quality original content has to be considered, as well. This is what plays a major part in customers keeping their subscriptions going.

No, the streaming giant does not always pump out amazing content, as they have had some notable misfires, even as recently as last year's Cowboy Beebop. However, they have had critically-acclaimed shows that have won the most prestigious awards in entertainment while also earning legions of fans around the world.

As Netflix continues to grow its original content tree, they will continue to work on projects of all sizes and all genres. Essentially, they have limitless options, which is good news for them and for fans, who want nothing more than great entertainment.

'Stay Close' Has Caught On With Fans

Released in December 2021, Stay Close is still a new series for Netflix, but this has not stopped it from piquing the interest of many. The British show was based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name, giving it a built-in audience that was ready to devour the show the moment that it hit the streaming platform.

Starring Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt, and more, Stay Close is an excellent mystery drama that some fans and most critics have loved. Interestingly, Richard Armitage has appeared in a separate Harlan Coben project, and he had some reservations about double-dipping, notably playing a character that was too similar to what he had done before.

"My first question was, 'Is the character going to be different enough from the one I've just done, because I didn't want to show up doing the same thing,' but they were aware of it as well. They were like, 'It's a different character, he's going to look different, he's going to feel different,'" the actor said.

So far, the show has an 89% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though the 60% with fans is a pretty large difference. Nevertheless, people are tuning in and seeing what all the fuss is about.

One thing of note surrounding this show is the location in which it is set when compared to the location that people are seeing on screen. People have noticed some familiar landmarks, leading money to wonder where in the world of this show is actually filmed.

'Stay Close' Is Filmed In Different Locations In England

According to National World, "Merseyside and central Manchester were among the filming locations for the series, but Blackpool was also utilized as Coben revealed 'while the book is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Blackpool really looks a lot like Atlantic City.'"

The connection to Atlantic City is key, as this is where things unfold in the book. The show, however, moved things across the pond, which caused the production team to look for a new place to film.

"Blackpool was chosen for several of the outdoor shots, seemingly due to its uncanny likeness to Atlantic City, while Manchester’s Northern Quarter was used for city centre shots," writes National World.

Finding a place that has such notable similarities is truly a testament to the production team, and this has played a major part in the show finding and maintaining an audience. It is also one of those production details that fans watching at home won't really take into consideration when diving into a new show, but clearly, it plays a part in things really coming together.
