Once the Harry Potter books became an absolute sensation, to say the least, everyone realized that it was only a matter of time before they were adapted for the big screen. However, when it was announced that work had begun on the first Potter film, it became clear that the film’s producers had a very difficult task in front of them. After all, casting the right kids to play the franchise’s many young characters would be a huge challenge. That is especially true since the Potter child stars had to go through a lot on top of being right for their roles.

Amazingly enough, all of the kids that were hired to star in the Potter films pretty much were perfect for their roles. On top of that, it is even more incredible that all of those former child stars seem to be well adjusted to date. In fact, it has been a lot of fun for most Potter fans to see how the franchise’s former child stars have matured over the years. For example, Matthew Lewis’ physical transformation has gotten a lot of attention among fans and in the media. That fact begs an obvious question, how does Lewis really feel about becoming a walking thirst trap?

Matthew Lewis’ Life Has Changed A Lot In Ways That Have Nothing To Do With His Looks

Since the last Harry Potter film was released in 2011, it has been more than a decade since the last time fans first got to see Matthew Lewis’ final performance as Neville Longbottom. While that is a shame since Lewis was delightful as Longbottom, Lewis has been up to a lot since his Potter days. For example, since Lewis now is free from the role that made him famous, he has been able to take on a lot of other gigs over the last decade. Most notably, Lewis took notable roles in films like Me Before You and Terminal on top of popping up in several shows including Girlfriends, Ripper Street, and Bluestone 42. If all of that wasn’t impressive enough, Lewis has also become a theater actor and even performed in a play that the Queen watched on her 80th birthday.

Putting aside his acting career, Matthew Lewis has been very active since leaving Harry Potter behind. For example, Lewis became the vice-president of the Leeds Rugby Foundation Charity. According to the charity’s website, it aims to “[enable] all to develop healthier and more meaningful lives and working collaboratively to support the creation and maintenance of thriving communities”.

Even though it seems very clear that Matthew Lewis derives a lot of pleasure from his career and charitable efforts, his true happiness seems to come from his love life. For proof of that, all you have to do is look at photos of Lewis with Angela Jones. After reportedly meeting in 2016, Lewis and Jones tied the knot during a 2018 wedding ceremony in Italy. Even though the couple has kept most of their life private, it seems safe to assume they are happy since they both seem to radiate joy in the pictures they post online.

Matthew Lewis’ Perspective On His Glow Up

From the moment the world got their first chance to see Matthew Lewis bring Neville Longbottom to life, it was clear that the actor was perfect for the role. After all, there was something about Lewis’ performance and look that made viewers instantly love the character and root for him. However, by the time the last Potter film was released, Lewis had undergone a huge physical transformation to the surprise of most Potter fans. Fortunately, Lew’s superficial change didn’t hinder his ability to bring Longbottom to life on the big screen.

Putting aside Matthew Lewis’ most famous character, people all over the world have been blown away by how incredibly handsome the actor has become. While there is no doubt that the internet is full of people thirsting after Lewis, most people have no idea how Lewis feels about everyone lusting after him. However, Lewis has commented on his transformation in the past and made it clear that he doesn’t see what all the fuss is about. For example, while talking to Attitude magazine in 2015, Lewis said “I've never considered myself to be good-looking at all. Just average."

Of course, some people may write off Matthew Lewis’ 2015 comment about his looks since he could have felt that way then and changed his self-image shortly after. However, when he spoke to Digital Spy in 2017, Lewis yet again downplayed his own looks and commented on people that he sees thirsting after him on social media.

‘Quite often on my Twitter, it’s brought up. Hey look, the internet can be a pretty awful place so if people write nice things about you – don’t complain. I’m not gonna sit here and say ‘Oh, people are saying how good-looking I am. It’s awful.’ It’s flattering, it’s lovely. But I honestly don’t get it. I’ve never felt that way and I still don’t feel that way.”
