Who's that girl? It's Jess! New Girl was a sitcom that aired on NBC from 2011 to 2018. It revolved around a quirky teacher named Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel), after she moves into an Los Angeles loft with three me- Nick, Schmidt and Winston. They deal with relationship issues and career choices. The show provided a lot of laughs, but also some serious and heartfelt moments.
Premiering nearly ten years ago, New Girl still holds a strong fan base to this day, and you can watch the series on Peacock and Netflix. However, it is leaving the international version in January 2022. The sitcom launched the careers of the main actors, especially Deschanel, and when the show ended, they all moved on and bigger things- professionally and personally.
Here's what the New Girl cast is up to now, after the series ended four year ago.
10 Zooey Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel played the main character, Jess, who was a schoolteacher in her early 30s. She fell in love with her roommate, Nick, after years of denying her feelings.
In 2021, Deschanel is still dating Property Brother, Jonathan Scott. She also became the host of the revamped version of ABC's The Celebrity Dating Game. She also joined TikTok, with her first video being a reenactment of the New Girl theme. Deschanel is also taking care of her two children, who she shares with her ex-husband.
9 Jake Johnson
Jake Johnson played Nick Miller, the bartender roommate, who is in love with Jess but won't admit his feelings. As for Johnson, this year he starred in and was the writer and co-producer on the film, Ride the Eagle. He is also currently filming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (part one). He will also star in the upcoming HBO Max show, Minx. When the actor is not filming a project, he spends time with his wife and twin daughters.
8 Max Greenfield
Max Greenfield played Schmidt, the roommate who is a shameless ladies' man and a marketing associate in a female-dominated office. As for Greenfield, since the ending of New Girl, he found another successful comedy to star on. Since 2018, he has played one of the leading roles on the CBS show, The Neighborhood, alongside Beth Behrs. The actor also became a best-selling author this year. He released a children's book called I Don't Want To Read This Book in November. He spends time with his wife and two children when he is not busy on set.
7 Lamorne Morris
Lamorne Morris played Winston Bishop, one of the roommates who was a former basketball player and Nick's childhood friend from Chicago. Morris has continued acting and just this year, he starred in the film How It Ends. Morris also had a recurring role in the show, Call Me Kat and starred in an episode of No Activity. His latest role was in Death of a Telemarketer. Morris has been sharing pictures of a baby on Instagram, but no one is sure if it is his child or just like a niece.
6 Hannah Simone
Hannah Simone played Cece, a fashion model who was Jess' best friend. She eventually winds up marrying Schmidt and they have a baby together. Although Simone hasn't acted in anything since last year, she has been busy taking care of her child, whom she shares with her husband, Jesse Giddings, and posing with her cat on Instagram.
5 Damon Wayans Jr.
Damon Wayans Jr. played Coach, a former athlete and former roommate, who works as a personal trainer. He appeared in the pilot and then had recurring roles in later seasons. He was replaced with Lamorne Morris. For Wayans, he has been busy acting in several different roles, such as in Kenan, Cherry, The Harder They Fall, Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar and more. He is set to be the host on the upcoming game show, Frogger.
4 Megan Fox
While Zooey Deschanel was out on maternity leave, Megan Fox stepped in for a bit. However, she didn't play Jessica Day. She played the pharmaceutical rep, Reagan. She starred in three films this year- Til Death, Midnight in the Switchgrass and Night Teeth. Fox also has a bunch of films in post-production coming out in 2022. She just went through a divorce and is currently dating Machine Gun Kelly.
3 Nasim Pedrad
Nasim Pedrad played Aly Nelson, who later becomes Winston's wife. The Saturday Night Live alum starred in two shows in 2021- Chad, where she was also creator, writer, director and executive producer, and an episode of Just Beyond. This year, Pedrad has been traveling and hanging out with her dog.
2 David Walton
David Walton played Sam Sweeney, the on-again, off-again boyfriend of Jess. When he is not busy acting, he is making time for his wife and two children. And according to his Instagram, Walton likes to spend a lot of his time in a bathrobe.
1 Nelson Franklin
Nelson Franklin played Robby McFerrin, a once upon a time boyfriend of Cece and cousin of Jess. Franklin has continued to act in many movies and TV shows and spend his time with his wife and son, who was born in June 2021.
