Hey New Girl, whatcha’ doin' on TikTok? Zooey Deschanel made her debut on the popular short-form video platform this past Friday, by recreating the intro song to her popular FOX comedy series.

While singing the theme song, the actress can be shown recreating the opening scene by holding a mirror while singing, "Hey girl, whatcha doing? Hey girl, where you going? Who's that girl? (Who's that girl?)." Deschanel was sporting an array of outfits in the video while traveling to different rooms in her house.

Instead of ending the video by saying “It’s Jess,” Deschanel said, "No, it's me Zooey. Hi. I'm on TikTok."

The video currently has over 1.2 million likes and 5.5 million views.

Once the video was posted to the platform, New Girls fans couldn’t stop talking about Deschanel recreating the opening scene to the beloved show.

“My girl aging backwards,” said user @itzelesque, followed by the pinched fingers emoji. Another user, @literallycecilia was astonished by her appearance and said “You literally haven’t aged a day." @veggiecakegirl commented on the video, “She doesn’t AGE.”

Deschanel starred as Jess Day on the comedy series for seven seasons, alongside Jake Johnson, Hannah Simone, Max Greenfield, and more. It garnered a large and passionate following in that time, and is still remembered fondly by many.

Ever since the show ended in 2018, fans have been awaiting the moment the cast would come together for a reunion special, or even a reboot. Last month, the creator of the show, Elizabeth Meriwether, talked about the possibility of a New Girl reunion in the future.

“I think we need a little more water under the bridge is what I’ll say, but yeah,” she said at Variety’s TVFest event. “When it feels right, when the universe says it’s time, I will be there with my little tippy-tap computer writing stuff.”

Meriwether went on to say that it was hard to say goodbye to the show and the characters.

“I felt like it was very hard to not know what happened in their lives,” she said. “We just wanted to show that everyone was happy and okay, because you really do fall in love with these characters.”

Since the show has ended, the cast has not commented on a reunion special.

All 7 seasons of New Girl are available to stream on Netflix.
