2020 is kind of a joke. At least, that’s how it feels to Niall Horan, as he watches the absolute mess that is the world pandemic and American election cycle. The One Direction star took to Twitter early on Friday morning to let his followers know that he hopes that everything going on is actually a giant prank.

“I feel like Ashton Kutcher is going to jump out and tell us we’ve been pink’s for the last four years,” Horan tweeted, alongside a video of Donald Trump at the White House. The clip in question shows the US president addressing the issue of the novel coronavirus just days after testing positive.

A Closer Look

The video that Horan shared in his tweet features Donald Trump as he talks about the issue of older people and the severity of their reactions towards the virus. The footage is even confusing at times, as the President talks about his own age.

“I’m a senior. I know you don’t know that. Nobody knows that. Maybe you don’t have to tell them. But I’m a senior,” Trump said. The president’s old age has long been reported on by outlets including CNN and The New York Times.

The President continued to talk about seniors in a way that, at times, contradicted himself. “Seniors, you’re not vulnerable, but they like to say ‘the vulnerable,’ but you’re the least vulnerable, but for this one thing, you are vulnerable,” he said to the cameras.

Apparently, the speech was so jumbled that Horan was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out from behind the bushes and explain that the whole Trump presidency was actually a prank. Cue the react cam! While this is clearly never going to happen, it does teach us a thing or two about the singer’s politics.

Horan Raises His Voice

The pop star has long used his social media platform to plug topics that are important to him. In the past few weeks, Horan has organized a fundraiser for breast cancer. He has also tweeted his support for women’s sports by raising awareness about the power of female athletes like golfer Leona McGuire.

Now that Horan has gotten political, we are excited to see what more the superstar will say as Election Day approaches.
