After her three-year relationship with Ray J ended in 2006, Kim Kardashian started seeing Nick Cannon, who claims the romance was so serious, he saw himself settling down with the TV star.
For just under a year did Kardashian and Cannon enjoy their time together, but things started falling apart after rumors began circulating that an intimate tape was set to drop between the Skims founder and Ray J.
During a recent interview on Drink Champs, the former America’s Got Talent host said that as word got out that a tape was being shopped around, Kardashian assured him that there was no truth to the claims.
Cannon said he didn’t make anything of the rumors because his then-girlfriend had assured him that there was no tape, to begin with. Well, the tape ended up dropping in 2007 and quite literally changed Kardashian’s life forever.
Just before the raunchy video hit the internet, however, Cannon says he had ran into Ray J in Hollywood, and he vividly recalls him urging him to steer clear of the KKW Beauty founder.
“We were getting pretty serious back then… and I saw Ray J in Rodeo Drive; we used to talk to a lot of the same girls before,” Cannon started off saying.
“We [him and Kardashian] were about to walk into the Louis Vuitton store and I was holding her hand, and he literally from across the street was like, ‘You ain’t gonna want to keep holding her hand soon. Watch.”
“And I’m thinking he’s just hating. That’s still my man, but I’m thinking this is someone he used to rock with and now she’s with me, I’m like, ‘he’s hating.’”
Little did Cannon know that Ray J was right after all. After the intimate tape leaked that same year, things between the father of seven and Kardashian started to derail before the pair decided to call it quits.
It’s heavily suggested that Cannon was the one who ended the relationship, and it appears that the tape seemed to have been quite an issue for him — particularly since Kardashian had initially told him there was nothing to worry about.
