Way back in 2006, Tom Cruise expressed the way he felt about being a dad. According to the actor, showing too much love did not exist in his view.

“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep. I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There’s just no way.”

Well, it seems like the actor kept his word, as he showed some serious love for his daughter Bella, paying for her entire wedding. We'll take a closer look at how he paid for the event, but did not show up, and neither did Nicole Kidman.

The rumor mill seems to suggest Bella and Nicole Kidman have a bumpy relationship. We'll take a look at their history, along with their emotional reunion a year after Bella's wedding.

It has been reported that Nicole Kidman and Bella Cruise have endured a bumpy relationship over the last few years. However, according to Nicole Kidman, as an adult, Bella has the freedom to do whatever she pleases. That held true for Kidman when Bella decided to join Scientology similar to the path that her father took.

Kidman revealed alongside Who Magazine back in 2018, “They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and, as a mother, it’s my job to love them,” she said.

“And I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe — that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here. I think that’s so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family — I believe it’s wrong. So that’s our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love.”

According to Hollywood Life, Kidman had an emotional reunion with Bella in 2016, a year after her wedding. It would also be the first time Nicole met Bella's husband Max Parker. An insider for the publication called it an emotional moment for Kidman.

“It was a very emotional moment for all of them, especially Nicole,” a source allegedly told the publication. “It didn’t take long for her to burst into tears, and Bella soon followed.”

The insider continues on, revealing Kidman had reached out to her daughter for quite some time until they finally met up. Kidman also hit it off with Bella's husband right from the get go.

“Nic has been trying to build bridges with Bella since the start of the year…Nicole took an instant liking to Max and could see that he and Bella get on really well.”

In a separate interview alongside Vanity Fair, Kidman revealed that her daughter is loving London - despite the separation between the two.

"Bella lives just outside of London. You know, she really feels more English. We lived there for Eyes Wide Shut, Mission Impossible, and The Portrait of a Lady. They both had English accents when they were little.”

Although Bella and Nicole have a rocky history, things seem to be fine these days.

There were several different reports about why Cruise and Kidman did not show up to Bella's wedding. One insider wrote that it had to do with Tom's film schedule at the time.

"Tom is filming a new film that is taking time and millions of dollars not to mess up scheduling, along with that he also didn‘t go to the wedding because it was his daughter’s wishes and he knows that if he went it would be all about him. Paps and guests would have made it a less special day had they been focusing on Tom."

However, conflicting reports mention that Tom and Nicole skipping out was purposely done so that the spotlight could be on Bella and Max during their special day.

Tom was not only okay with the idea, but he also agreed to pay all expenses.

"We're told Tom was not only cool with the decision, he footed the bill for the wedding and party at the fancy schmancy Dorchester hotel," TMZ revealed.

Clearly, there wasn't any type of trouble or conflict between the family, and everyone felt it was best that the two did not take part.
