Paul Bettany believed his Marvel career had ended after the Avengers: Infinity War film!

Paul Bettany thought his superhero career had ended. He was uncertain about Vision's future in the MCU, and fans wondered if a resurrection of any kind would make an appearance. Seeing Thanos rip the mind stone from our favorite android's...mind, wasn't a pleasant sight for anyone, especially actor Paul Bettany.

Leave it to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where writers will create multiverse after multiverse, if it means that their beloved characters can come back to life. Bettany will now reprise his role as Vision, in a new Disney+ series with Elizabeth Olsen aka Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch)!

He hasn't been resurrected in the show, though! WandaVision takes place in a pocket dimension, far away from our reality.

Why Paul Bettany Thought He Was Fired

The actor made a virtual appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared the story of how he learned about his character returning in WandaVision. When Kevin Feige invited the actor to meet him, Bettany thought he'd be fired!

"I got a call from Kevin Feige and he said 'Come and see me'", he shared. The actor immediately assumed that Feige meant to inform him that his time in the MCU had ended.

He continued, "I went in to see them, and I thought they were being gents about it and you know, gonna let me down gently."

"So I cut it off at the pass, and walked in there and said 'Look guys, it's been a great run and thank you so much', and they went, 'Are you quitting? We're gonna pitch you a TV show.'"

"I went, 'Oh, all right!'" he said.

Describing the series, Bettany says "[WandaVision] is about two superheroes who find themselves in 1950s suburbia, and then start hurtling through the American century at breakneck speed."

"[They] begin to wonder what's going on in this town because it can't be right."

WandaVision is leading the fourth phase of the MCU, and has a quirky approach. It represents an American sitcom in each episode, starting with Dick Van Dyke in the 1950's!

The 60's episode features Bewitched, and will reportedly pay homage to I Love Lucy among others. Even though Scarlet Witch and Vision's relationship might seem a bit bizarre to some fans, WandaVision is anything but that!
