Paul Rudd is, undoubtedly, one of the most experienced actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), having starred in several hit films and tv shows. He was also a 90s heartthrob alongside the likes of Keanu Reeves, George Clooney, Will Smith, Hugh Grant, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Unlike some of these men, however, it seems Rudd never lost his youthful glow. Some even refer to this actor as Hollywood’s real-life Benjamin Button.

In 2019, Rudd shocked fans when they realized that he managed to turn 50 without aging at all. Today, the Hollywood star still appears like he hasn’t aged a day despite his hectic career. So, how does he do it? Well, here’s what Rudd has said about staying healthy and glowing over the years.

His Celebrity Pals Have Noticed His Youthfulness Too

As it turns out, it’s not just fans that have been intrigued by Rudd’s age-defying abilities. In fact, some of his celebrities have commented on it at some point. For instance, when Rudd celebrated his 52nd birthday, Jennifer Aniston posted a greeting on her Instagram Stories that remarked, “You don’t age, which is weird, but we celebrate you anyway.” Fellow MCU actor Mark Ruffalo also sent a similar greeting saying, “Did I find the secret behind your eternal youth?”

Rudd was also asked about his youthful looks while he was doing press for Avengers: Endgame alongside Scarlett Johansson. And while Rudd jokingly claimed that it was the Time Stone keeping him young, Johansson jokingly claimed, “He does his own botox! Constantly injecting his face...” On the other hand, Elizabeth Olsen, Rudd’s other fellow MCU co-star, once revealed that she got some beauty tips from the Hollywood actor.

In recent years, his Ant-Man co-stars have weighed in on the issue too. Michael Peña told Yahoo Entertainment that it’s probably the result of “a lot of Botox” and “obviously good genes.” David Dastmalchian jokingly suggested that Rudd is a vampire (I think Paul Rudd is from Transylvania). Meanwhile, Evangeline Lilly offered a more plausible explanation, saying, “I think his secret is his boyish joy and laughter and being happy.” Similarly, Michael Douglas also said that the secret to Rudd’s youthfulness is his inclination for comedy. The veteran actor even offered a sensible rationale saying, “If all your time you’re thinking about, where do I get a joke? How do I bring humor to the world? I think that’s gonna make you younger.”

During a Clueless cast reunion, Rudd’s former co-star, Breckin Meyer, once hilariously remarked that the actor was “sucking the lifeblood out of babies” in his trailer to prevent aging. Later on, Chris Evans also decided to confront Rudd about the rumors. While the two actors were interviewing each other for Variety, Evans asked, “Why don’t you age? Are you drinking baby blood?” In response, Rudd simply said, “I most certainly age.” Everyone still thinks he doesn’t.

The Secret To His Youthful Protection May Be Sun Protection

Rudd’s celebrity friends can make jokes all they want but no one can deny that Rudd still pretty much looks like he did in the 90s. And it turns out, Rudd’s incredible skin may be due to the fact that he uses sun protection. “I'm not one for tanning. I used to be, back when I was rocking the Depeche Mode look,” the actor explained while speaking with InStyle. “Honestly, I wear sunscreen not to prevent wrinkles but because I don't want to get skin cancer.”

In case anyone’s wondering, board-certified Arianne Shadi Kourosh once issued a statement for the American Academy of Dermatology Association saying, “Ultraviolet radiation from the sun and indoor tanning beds not only can increase your risk of skin cancer but also can contribute to skin aging.” In addition, a study published in Dermatologic Surgery also found that daily sunscreen use “may visibly reverse the signs of existing photodamage,” which can help prevent aging.

He Made Healthier Lifestyle Changes When He Joined The MCU

Aside from using sunscreen regularly, Rudd also decided to adopt a much healthier lifestyle when he signed on to become the MCU’s Ant-Man. “I changed my diet and work out and whole life when I got [the Ant-Man role],” Rudd explained to AARP. “I started training and eating like an athlete: no sugar, no alcohol, just proteins and vegetables. I really loved it. It was a complete change of life that took me by surprise. I did not think living such a healthy lifestyle would be as fulfilling.”

Aside from eating healthy, Rudd also focused on exercise, doing “flips and rolls and all that kind of stuff.” To give everyone a better idea, Rudd’s CrossFit coach Brendan Johnston told Muscle & Fitness that Rudd’s workout routine includes dumbbell bench presses, oblique crunches, and weighted pullups among others. While speaking with People, Rudd himself admitted, “I’d never exercised harder than this for an extended amount of time.”

Today, Rudd is set to appear in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife film. Meanwhile, he is also expected to reprise his MCU character in the highly anticipated film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. And throughout all these, Rudd would still look the same way as he did on Clueless.
