Hollywood action star has paid a touching tribute to his late co-star Paul Walker ahead of the North American release of Fast 9.

Variety reports that the latest instalment in the franchise crossed a box office milestone internationally, grossing $250 million and $203 million in China.

The film releases in the US and South Africa on 25 June.

Alongside a picture of Vin and Paul sent to him by Paul's daughter, he wrote: "Weeks away from the F9 release... in preproduction for the finale that starts only months from now... @meadowwalker sends me this image and tells me how happy the photo makes her feel.

"Naturally, one gets filled with emotion, purpose and ultimately gratitude. Eternal brotherhood is a blessing beyond words. Hope to make you proud... All love, Always."

Meadow - the fashion model daughter of Walker - commented on the post: "I love you."

It caused many fans to write their own emotional tributes in Walker's honor.

"Paul Walker is proud of you and his energy surrounds all the family! Fast 9!" one fan wrote.

"I still can’t believe he’s gone...thank you for always keeping his memory alive," a second added.

A forever memory of friendship and love. Brother for love in life and in death...real tears," a third commented.

Diesel has previously been praised for being a great father figure to Walker's daughter, Meadow.

On her Instagram feed - that boasts 2.5 million followers - Meadow shared a black-and-white snap of herself embracing the 53-year-old action star. Diesel's 13-year-old daughter Hania was also seen in the snap.

The grainy photo featured Meadow in a sheer sleeveless top as she wrapped her arms around Vin, who looked casual in a white tank top and aviator sunglasses.

The photo appeared to be a throwback, as Meadow had long hair and she recently showed off her short black bob on her feed.

In June of 2020 she shared a cute photo of herself surrounded by Hania and Vin's other two children, Vincent, 11, and Pauline, six.

"Family, forever," she captioned that photo.

Diesel was seen in her comment section writing: "All love, Always..."

Vin previously shared a sweet post for Meadow's 21st birthday in November 2019, along with a photo of her and his youngest daughter Pauline.

"I could say that I am so proud of the person you are becoming... but the truth is I have always been proud of you. Happy Birthday Meadow!" he wrote.

"I know it’s your 21st and you wanted to go big in Japan, but the family has a cake waiting for you when you get home, so hurry. Love you kid," he wrote, signing it "Uncle Vin."

"Thanks you so much," Meadow replied. "I can't wait to see you soon. And my little angels. Love you."

Paul, best known for performances in the Fast & Furious series, was killed at age 40 in a fiery wreck on November 30, 2013. Walker was a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT which was driven by a friend - who also died - when it crashed north of Los Angeles.
