It appears that Prince Charles has extended a peace offering to his son Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, with whom he reportedly hasn’t spoken to in months. Despite the rift, Charles openly gushed about Harry in an essay for Newsweek, commending his son for his environmental work.

The proud father ensured he didn’t play favorites by also congratulating Harry’s brother William in the article too.

Charles Shared That His Sons' Environmental Work Made Him A Proud Father

Charles wrote “As a father, I am proud that my sons have recognized this threat. Most recently, my elder son, William, launched the prestigious Earthshot Prize to incentivize change and help repair our planet over the next ten years.”

“My younger son, Harry, has passionately highlighted the impact of climate change, especially in relation to Africa, and committed his charity to being net zero.”

The Duke’s public display of affection is quite a contrast to Harry’s behavior last month, in which he essentially threw his father under the bus by claiming, in short, that his charity had accepted donations from Saudi Arabian business tycoon Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz knowing that his motives were less than savory.

Charles Was Left 'Deeply Shocked' By A Claim Harry Made About His Charity Last Month

In response, a source close to Charles had stated “Charles is deeply shocked and disappointed by Harry's latest statement which effectively threw his father under the bus.”

“This attack was more damaging than the swipe at Charles's parenting skills because this was a challenge to the way he conducts his business which is far more damaging to the future King.”

“Attempts have been made to clear the air but they have barely spoken since the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.”

However, the source added that there would be no retaliation from Charles due to his love for Harry, which, so far, has proven to be true.

There is, hopefully, a possibility that Charles’ warm words in Newsweek could succeed in causing a thaw in the father and son’s frosty relationship, particularly considering that Harry and Meghan are expected to return to the UK in 2022.

A royal expert alleged “Hopefully we will see them back in the UK… Because Harry has got the Invictus Games, fingers crossed [in May/June], so one would assume he will come back and see his family.”

“And again, one would assume Meghan will come to the Invictus Games as well, with the children. So, I think that that’s probably a fair bet to say that we may see them in the springtime next year. But who knows?”
