Priyanka Chopra has officially freaked out her fans and followers, and it's going to take a hot minute for them to catch their breath. Rumors began to circulate that she and Nick Jonas had broken up after she dropped 'Jonas' from her name and her Instagram username read simply as "Priyanka Chopra." Adding to the tension was the fact that her Instagram bio simply said; "Priyanka." That's all it took to stir up a whole lot of commotion, and with one swift change to her name, Chopra had sent her 70.5 million followers into an absolute frenzy.

Troubled minds can rest easy knowing that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are still very much in love, and their marriage remains strongly intact. It appears that there is nothing to this change aside from Priyanka just tinkling around with her social media account. Or is there?

Interestingly, just as all this drama and attention was put on Priyanka Chopra and her social media account... she started posting to promote her new film, The Matrix: Resurrection, also starring Keanu Reeves.

Well That Was An Interesting Move...

Fans are relieved, but they do remain utterly confused about why Priyanka Chopra would adjust her last name in such a public manner, just a few days before she's due to celebrate her wedding anniversary.

Priyanka Chopra hasn't directly addressed or explained the circumstances that led to her oddly timed name change, but after sparking divorce rumors and watching her social media account nearly blow up with comments from worried fans, she did take a moment to gush over Nick Jonas' workout post. Fans seem appeased, as this doting comment on Nick's page seemed to prove that there's still a whole lot of steamy heat between this couple.

Was This A Publicity Stunt To Promote Her Movie?

While it remains unclear why she engaged in a name-change switcharoo, it's hard to miss the fact that Priyanka Chopra used all of this newfound attention to her social media account as an opportunity to promote herself.

Fans began scouring Priyanka's page to see if additional marriage clues would surface, and they were met with some very different messaging, instead. It seems that Priyanka seized the moment and used all of this attention in her favor by plugging the release of her new movie, The Matrix: Resurrection.

Perhaps not-so-coincidentally, a post promoting the movie and featuring Priyanka in character was splashed across her Instagram page, exactly one month before the movie is poised to be released.

That's one sure-fire way to garner some attention on a new project!
