As television has grown larger and started to include some more weird and wonderful sides of human nature, we have ended up with some true oddities on our screens, as well as some lovely and endearing families too! This includes the Duggar family that can be seen on 19 Kids And Counting, as well as the various spin-offs.

We wanted to take a look at some of the many things that have happened on 19 Kids And Counting that we reckon are pretty questionable. It's no surprise that these sorts of things are going to happen when people invite cameras into their lives. There's a reason a lot of us like to keep things private.

So, it's time to dive in and have a look at some of the more questionable things that have been seen on 19 Kids And Counting. This is the stuff that people should really be giving a second thought before they commit it to television!

20 Unsurprisingly, They Don't Like Birth Control

Does it come as a surprise that this heavily religious family with loads of children doesn't believe in birth control?

Of course not, but in the modern world, it can be a fairly dangerous message to send out to people, especially the young members of the audience who may not even consider it as an option for themselves!

19 A Gay Crew Member Was Removed

We know that everyone is allowed to believe whatever they want, but we also think that nobody should be denied a chance to make a living just based on who they love!

That's why it's sad to see one of the crew members of the show turned away from work just because of who they are...

18 Is Jill A Midwife Or Not?!

It's generally accepted that anyone who chooses to become a healthcare professional should be expected to help anyone that is in need.

However, despite being a midwife, Jill's parents wouldn't allow her to help out an unwed soon to be mother, and she had to find herself another midwife.

17 Jessa's Boyfriend Moved In?!

Being as religious and conservative as they are, it's no surprise that the children of the Duggar family are not able to get away with the sort of thing that the rest of us can.

This is why it came as such a surprise when Jim Bob let Jessa's boyfriend move in so that they can spend some more quality time together!

16 The Daughters Can't Make Their Own Decisions

We all know the way that the women of the Duggar family are not allowed to wear what they want or act how they want when in public.

However, Jim Bob has even taken his daughters to give blood without asking them if they even want to. That's an odd decision to make for someone else!

15 Michelle Doesn't Do Enough As A Mom

One of the things about having this many children is that the younger ones can be looked after by the older ones.

This is why many viewers have noticed that Michelle doesn't seem to take up many of her parenting duties, instead of allowing the other kids to take control of the situation for her.

14 The Weddings Are Massive

The Duggars have a huge family, so it only makes sense that they would end up having huge weddings, but sometimes it starts to get ridiculous.

For example, at some of the weddings of the Duggar daughters, the family invited a total of 1,000 guests, much more than at an average wedding.

13 They're Parents, Not Councillors!

We all like to think that our parents know better than us, but the reality is that they often don't!

This is why it can be pretty uncomfortable to watch these two give their children their own counseling sessions, especially when it comes down to how they should handle their marriage.

12 Give The Kid's Some Privacy

Nobody is denying that it's important for parents to keep an eye on their children and ensure that they're growing up in the proper fashion, but this family just takes it too far!

Children deserve a certain amount of privacy, especially if parents want them to grow up well adjusted!

11 So. Much. Pregnancy.

Anyone that comes to this show is obviously expecting to see a lot of pregnancy, but it can often be overwhelming, especially when they all choose to try and have them at home.

Everyone is allowed to make their own decisions when it comes to childbirth, but we would feel more comfortable with some of them making their way to a hospital.

10 "The Loyalty Song"

Anyone that has been following the drama surrounding Josh and his Ashley Madison account will know that there is a lot of moments in 19 And Counting that now look very embarrassing.

One of those is the cringe-worthy loyalty song that Josh sang at his wedding. Didn't stay very loyal did he...

9 No Hugs Allowed

There are a lot of pictures of the young people in the shows hugging one another from behind or the side, and this is because the Duggar parents don't want their children even fully hugging their partners until they're married.

If anyone thinks this is way over the top, then they are correct.

8 It Was Cancelled During Its Highest Rated Season

There are a lot of shows out there that get canceled well before their time, and it never seems to make much sense.

However, with the amount of controversy surrounding the eldest Duggar son, it only made sense that they would end up taking the show off the air!

7 Josh's Joke Quickly Became Uncomfortable

Okay, without going into too much detail, this man was accused of some pretty unpleasant things, involving some of his sisters as well...

Yeah, so a joke from all the way back in 2008 when he joked that his twin sisters coming with him on a date could be a double date just hasn't aged well at all.

6 They Went On Huge Trips

A big family has to do everything bigger than a "normal" family, including the vacations they end up taking. Getting all of the family members to somewhere can cost a lot of money and take a lot of planning, so the family often goes on huge trips together.

We would think it was a nightmare!

5 They Lost Number 20

Look, it's easy to make jokes about 19 Kids And Counting, as well as all of the many spin-offs that have come from it, but we can all agree that there is nothing funny about this.

Watching a family lose a child before they have a chance to see them grow is one of the most harrowing things anyone can go through.

4 Jana Won Everyone Over

Jana is widely considered to be the sweetest Duggar daughter, the woman that the audience took to like a moth to a flame!

This is because she seems genuinely nice, and spends her time looking after the many members of her family, something that the parents should probably be doing...

3 For Michelle, No Is Not Allowed

Michelle has gone on record as saying that she doesn't feel she can say no to Jim Bob as it is all about the patriarch in the Duggar Family.

It must be really weird to be in a situation where somebody essentially controls everything she does, especially that she's not one of the many children in the household.

2 Jill And Derick Lied About Their Missionary Work

Believe it or not, but these two were forced to give back a bunch of money that they gathered through internet contributions, as it was found out that their missionary work was all made up.

They were sent away due to their lack of qualifications, so it seemed that they just took a three-week vacation on other people's money!

1 The Kids Were Homeschooled By A Cult Leader

This is a family that seems to trust each other more than they do others, so it's no surprise that they use a program that allows them to school their children at home.

However, the program they used was famously put together by a suspected cult leader with some pretty unpleasant accusations against his name...
