It is the day and age of reboots, revivals and reunions. Shows that have long been gone are being remade, characters from certain film series are coming together again and cancelled stories have been given second chances.
And while everyone probably feels that their favorite TV show needs to come back again, this list has the 15 that truly need a reboot, revival or reunion! Perhaps the entire series is retold with new people, allowing a new generation to fall in love. Maybe the story picks up right where it left off, showing us what characters are up to now. Or maybe there is just a small reunion, where the cast and crew is together for just a bit, giving the world one more taste of what once was but not tarnishing the original show. Yes, here they are… See if any faves made the list!
Friends is the most celebrated and popular TV show of all time. It defined the ‘90s, and years later, people still watch and rewatch the episodes that cause laughter, tears and jealousy of this amazing friend group. While the original can’t be touched or topped, everyone would enjoy seeing these seven together again, in any form or fashion.
Another well-known show from the 1990s is Seinfeld, and the humor found here is like no other; comedies have been trying to live up to and recreate this relevant and ridiculous yet wonderful and witty jokes since the first episode aired! While the original series is so iconic, a brief reunion or even a film version would at least be nice.
13 The Office
Rumors have been circulating for awhile about The Office returning. If it was a reunion that gave us life updates on our favorite characters, that would be great. If it was a revival that continued the story, giving us something new to look forward to each week, that would be awesome. But if it were a reboot, with a new cast, that would not be okay!
Cheers is a classic television show that starred some very notable actors and actresses. Seeing Ted Danson as Sam Malone, Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane, Woody Harrelson as Woody Boyd and Kirstie Alley as Rebecca Howe again would be a dream come true for many, and it would allow younger fans to see what all the fuss was about, back in the day.
11 Sex and the City
There has also been talk about Sex and the City making a comeback, but not all of the leading ladies have been totally on board. There were theatrical releases that gave the world more details, and there was a prequel series, The Carrie Diaries. It will be interesting to see what comes next… if anything.
10 Parks and Recreation
Like The Office, Parks and Rec is a funny and well-known TV show that also starred some big names. It ended with a jump into the future, but then it, well, just ended! What are their offspring up to nowadays? Is everyone still in love with who they were? What jobs are being worked? We need details.
9 The Golden Girls
Now, The Golden Girls focused on four older women (Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia), and it ran from 1985-1992. But it is sort of a pop culture phenomenon, and it is seen on tees and bags and pins and such even today! While Betty White is the only living main cast member, there could be a reboot, and she would definitely have to make an appearance.
8 The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Back in the day, Will Smith was on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and he went on to star in huge films, making him one of the most famous actors in Hollywood. Would he be interested in returning to this role? Would Carlton perform his famous dance? Would the outfits be as amazing as they were then? And would the theme song be the same?
7 Freaks and Geeks
Sadly, many people don’t even know about Freaks and Geeks, because it wasn’t on that long, but let us break it down: There were the geeks, on the right, and that tall one there is Martin Starr (Gilfoyle from Silicon Valley). Then there were the freaks, on the left, and those people are Busy Philipps, James Franco, Linda Cardellini, Jason Segal and Seth Rogen!
6 Party of Five
Party of Five is another show that had an awesome cast, including Neve Campbell, Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox and Lacey Chabert. And it is actually getting a reboot, with new people and a new story. But we are here to say that those gorgeous brunette originals need to be on the screen together again!
5 The Nanny
The Nanny starred Fran Drescher as Fran Fine, and this character is such a legendary one. What has she been up to since then? What do the kids look like now? The world could find out with a reboot, revival or reunion… and just imagine all the new outfits that would be seen on her.
4 7th Heaven
7th Heaven was about a preacher’s family, and there were so many friends, significant others and people in need who brought in neat guest stars and interesting side stories. The Camden kids are quite famous (on and off the show), and it would be awesome to catch up with them again.
3 Dead Like Me
Another television show that not everyone has heard about, due to it also ending too soon, is Dead Like Me. It was an entertaining afterlife story with humorous and thought-provoking episodes and characters who were played by spot-on actors and actresses, and it deserves to be returned to TV.
2 Sense 8
Sense 8, a Netflix show, was about eight strangers from eight different parts of the world who were mentally and emotionally linked. It was a sci-fi show, but it touched upon politics, sexuality, gender, religion and so much more. It came on in 2015, there was a Christmas special in 2016, more episodes dropped in 2017… then it was cancelled! Thankfully, the uproar resulted in a two-and-a-half-hour series finale in 2018, but we want more.
1 The OA
Another Netflix show was The OA, which was released in 2016. Part II came out in 2019. There were going to be five parts and five seasons, but a couple of months ago, it was cancelled. Fans are still upset by this, so maybe the story will be continued… later on… at some point… in some way… perhaps??
