It's hard to believe that Sonja Morgan isn't an original housewife. After watching her on TV for so many years, many Real Housewives of New York fans feel like she's been apart of the series since the beginning; however, Lady Morgan joined in the third season and has never looked back.

A big reason why Sonja got a gig on The Real Housewives is because of her family name. Sonja married John Adams Morgan in 1998. John Morgan is apart of the same family who created J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley. He's also a descendent of former US President, John Adams.
As Sonja has said, "I married the bank!" And she's not wrong. Her ex has a ton of money and friends in high places, which makes Sonja very well connected. Sadly, while the two divorced in 2006, Sonja can't seem to let go of her former life.

Sonja has always loved to have a good time and has her fair share of drinks on camera but lately, her drinking seems to have increased. She's not just getting tipsy anymore; she's getting drunk.

Ramona was very honest about Mario cheating on her and finding her independence again. Dorinda cries constantly over the loss of her husband. But Sonja? Where are her daughter and family members close to her? There's no way that her ex would appear on the show but she hasn't been in a very serious relationship since then.
When Sonja was asked why her daughter was never on camera, she had this to say about the situation: “I married into a very important American family and I honor the responsibility of raising my daughter into the legacy she was born into. So, to bring that on camera is kind of not a fit." Her reasoning makes sense but it doesn't fit with the show.

Fans have seen the drama over Sonja Morgan's toaster oven but she also has a fashion line (Sonja by Sonja Morgan) and a party-planning business called Sonja in the City. Adding on to her love of TV and, well, herself, she was also on the Food Network's Worst Cooks in America.

Should Sonja be fired for being "broke?" No, of course not. However, she's apparently not being as truthful as she claims when it comes to finances. The eye-catching thing about The Real Housewives franchise is how wealthy all the women are.
It's showcased through the clothes they wear, the places they go, the homes they buy. It's also what sets the show apart from other reality TV shows. And although Sonja looks the part, Sonja has faced bankruptcy, she was sued by her ex-husband, and she has almost lost her home. On a show like RHONY, fans need transparency.

Unlike other cities in the Housewives franchise, the ladies of RHONY genuinely get along and hang out when they're not filming. It's rare to find ladies who both love and hate each other as much as the ladies of New York. However, when it comes to newer cast members, it seems like Sonja isn't fond of someone who could potentially take her job.
Leah McSweeney came into the group in season 12 and it was obvious from the start Sonja wanted to like her, but she also wanted her gone. She went after her about her fashion, about her actions, and about having tattoos. Being jealous of other ladies is not a good look for Lady Morgan.
