The Real Housewives franchise isn't exactly known for bringing on the most intelligent cast members. After all, the catfights and petty arguments are sort of the attraction for many viewers. The women's fights have even transcended the show and gotten out of hand in many cases.

But that changed when 'Real Housewives of Potomac' hired on Dr. Wendy Osefo, the first doctorate-holder to ever star on any of the franchise's seasons.

Dr. Osefo's background in political science, government, public affairs, and community development likely meant her career path didn't need to involve starring on a reality TV show. And yet Wendy added 'reality TV star' to her resume, which already included positions like a political commentator, assistant professor, and CEO.

For the CEO part, Dr. Osefo founded The 1954 Equity Project, LLC, notes its website. She's an education expert, the site notes, and she's even created college-level programs as a director for Goucher College.

She was even the first black woman to earn a Ph.D. in her niche (Public Affairs-Community Development) at Rutgers. She's also won countless awards, been interviewed by a long list of news organizations, and offers political commentary in a radio show.

In short, Dr. Osefo has done a lot during her career. And it's true that she'll bring some diversity to the 'RHOP' cast, like the newest addition is to 'RHONY.' But in terms of her background, fans really want to know how Wendy of 'RHOP' got to be so wealthy.

The thing is, despite widely-reported claims that Dr. Osefo is worth $1.5 million, critics say it's all lies. Further, as All About the Tea elaborated, an anonymous source thinks that Wendy's net worth itself is a total lie.

The source claims that Wendy's one of the lowest-paid part-time professors at John Hopkins. They also allege that Wendy bought a house in 2019 but had to finance the $695K property between two loans. What's more, the home is "nowhere near Potomac," says All About the Tea. And before that, the couple rented a home for around eight years, claimed the gossip-rich source.

And when it comes to that reported $1.5 million net worth, sources say that Wendy and her husband are actually $1.5 million in debt instead. Like Wendy, her husband is highly educated, with law and doctoral degrees, but hasn't "taken a case to trial" in years.

Still, Wendy's had to have been making money, fans speculate. After all, being a CEO and a professor at a college has got to pad her pockets to some extent. However, living in Potomac (or near it?) can't be cheap, and neither can raising three kids.

But if it's true that Wendy and her husband sold their wedding photos to Ebony magazine, as that same snitchy source states, maybe they are in need of a cash influx through Wendy's new reality TV gig.
