The Pitch Perfect star has talked to Drew Barrymore in a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. Wilson has started her acting career in 2003, but her first career choice was mathematics. She graduated from University of New South Wales in 2009 with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees.

Rebel Wilson Has A Plan B: She Could Be A Space Lawyer

“A lot of people see me on Instagram or just being crazy and having this fun actress life, but what they didn’t see is that I went to university and got two degrees,” the Australian actress said.

“I really did study hard as well,” she added.

Wilson has joked on the fact that a career in acting isn’t always stable and it’s good to have a backup option.

“I could be a lawyer at any moment if something happened and the movies didn’t work out,” she said.

“I could just go back and help prosecute criminals,” she added.

The Bridesmaids actress then revealed what her specialism was, and it is pretty unusual.

“I actually specialized in space law,” she told Barrymore.

“[It] is this new frontier because at some point space tourism will become a big thing and people might colonize the moon and what do you do if that happens,” she continued.

Wilson picked this specialism since she thought it could be a “fun” elective to take.

"I knew at that point maybe I wouldn’t be a real lawyer” she said.

Rebel Wilson Became An Actress After A Malaria Hallucination

Wilson also explained how she decided to become an actress. She said she had never thought of herself as a performer before contracting malaria in South Africa, where she was working as a youth ambassador for Australia.

“I had this hallucination that I was an actress and then I won an Academy Award,” she said.

“That just made me go into acting,” she continued.

The actress has recently appeared in Taika Waititi’s 2019 Oscar-nominated movie, Jojo Rabbit. She is set to star in a remake of the 1980 movie Private Benjamin, originally played by Goldie Hawn. Wilson has also been cast in The Social Life, alongside Mean Girls and Mamma Mia! protagonist Amanda Seyfried.
