In Hollywood, there is a slew of major stars that the vast majority of regular folks find extremely attractive, to say the very least. As a result, it is very safe to say that there are loads of fans who would love to film intimate scenes with a lot of their favorite stars. In fact, we all know that it is extremely common to fantasize about filming a sequence like that with your biggest celebrity crush.

Amazingly enough, it is well documented that some actors have gone to great lengths to avoid filming an intimate scene with major stars. For example, one actor even turned down the chance to co-star with Brad Pitt to avoid filming an intimate scene with him. On top of that, it has been revealed that Reese Witherspoon once refused to film an intimate scene with a very popular actor.

Fantasy Meets Reality

From the outside looking in, it can sometimes seem unfathomable that anyone would be upset that they are hired to get up close and personal with a major star. Of course, in life, things often aren’t what they seem from afar and that certainly holds true when it comes to filming intimate scenes. After all, even though some stars have had great things to say about feeling safe and at ease while filming those sequences, many actors have made it clear that filming intimate scenes can be a nightmare.

Throughout Kate Winslet’s career, she has filmed many sequences that involved some level of intimacy. As a result, most people may assume that Winslet would view filming intimate scenes as just another day on the job. In reality, however, Winslet once said “those scenes are really awkward — it doesn't matter which way you look at it".

Unfortunately for Judy Greer, she even had a negative experience simply rehearsing an intimate scene. According to Greer, when she and a co-star rehearsed an intimate scene, she decided to give her “full performance” so everyone would know how she was going to handle the scenes. Sadly, after rehearsal, Greer was left feeling “so embarrassed” and “so mortified” after she was told she took her performance too far.

Amazingly enough, Nicole Kidman’s description of how she felt while filming intimate scenes for Big Little Lies sounds even worse. After all, Kidman once said that she “felt very exposed and vulnerable and deeply humiliated at times” while filming those sequences. Worse yet, Kidman revealed that while she filmed one intimate scene, she “was just lying there, sort of broken and crying” and she felt so upset that she didn’t even get up between takes. Instead of picking up on how upset Kidman was and offering support, the director of that scene instead reacted by placing a towel on her as she continued to lay on the floor.

As revealing as those anecdotes are, they are only a small sampling of times celebrities have revealed how hard it can be to film intimate scenes. Fortunately, many major productions now hire intimacy coordinators to try and make sure that actors don’t feel traumatized when they film intimate scenes. That said, it makes sense that some stars have felt regret after filming up close and personal scenes.

Witherspoon Refuses

After Four Christmases was released in 2008, the film quickly became popular with a lot of moviegoers. On the other hand, the movie was far from a hit with critics as evidenced by the fact that the movie only received 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. As it turns out, it seems pretty clear that the movie’s stars, Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn enjoyed making the movie even less than the critics did watching it.

At the end of the day, it is completely unclear if something specific happened that caused there to be bad blood between Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. That said, according to reports, the two actors never mended fences, and that likely was caused by the fact that they conduct themselves extremely differently on set.

“Vince rolls onto set in the morning looking like he just came in from a night out, while Reese will arrive early looking camera-ready. Then Reese tries to force Vince into blocking out each scene and running through their lines as Vince tries to convince her that he’s an ad-libber and wants to play around and see where the scene goes.”

Based on the original plans for Four Christmases, Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn were supposed to film an intimate scene for the film. However, if the reports are true, Witherspoon disliked Vaughn so much that she had the intimate sequence axed because she couldn’t stand the idea of filming a scene like that with him. Unlike some fake celebrity feuds, it certainly seems like Vaughn and Witherspoon truly dislike one another.
