American actress Reese Witherspoon is perhaps best known for her role as outspoken young California lawyer Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Now, the actress is raising her voice off-screen and speaking out about current political issues.

Most recently, Witherspoon wants her fans to know that she has read a report published in The Atlantic, which quotes President Donald Trump referring to fallen US soldiers as “losers” and “suckers.”

The actress has not been afraid to tell the world that she does not agree.

On Sunday, September 6, Witherspoon took to Twitter to tell her followers that she has all of the respect in the world for US military veterans. She also goes as far as to condemn those who mock or degrade young soldiers. “No one should ever disrespect the Vets who served,” Witherspoon wrote.

The star of Legally Blonde did not hesitate to share that she does not believe that President Trump should be speaking so negatively about American soldiers. At the tail end of her declaration about never disrespecting Vets, Witherspoon wrote: “Especially the US President.”

Witherspoon’s Army Brat Past

To the surprise of some fans, Witherspoon opened up with her followers about her own childhood as a military brat.

In her tweet, it was clear that the actress still identifies with the military, calling herself, “a person who grew up in a military family.”

She also speaks about the ways in which her childhood was affected by the sacrifice of her relatives who served. For example, Witherspoon revealed that she did not have a stable childhood home. On the contrary, she spent many of her younger years moving from base to base. She explains that she spent her youth, “traveling the world as my father, my uncle, and my aunt served in the US Air Force and US Navy.”
