Fans of 90's sitcom Friends sent the internet into a frenzy when a Ross Gellar/David Schwimmer lookalike was wanted for stealing some beer. The police in Blackpool England released a photo of the thief caught on video surveillance in the process of helping himself to some beer. The photo was shared to their Facebook page where they hoped someone could identify him.
They certainly had a lot of responses but probably not the ones they were expecting. There is no doubt that this dude looks a lot like David Schwimmer did during his Ross days. We mean really, could this guy look any more like Ross?
Of course, everyone noticed and then all of the jokes started. The police's Facebook page was inundated with famous Friends quotes. Some gems include, "I don't think it's been this guy's day, his week, his month or even his year," referring to the well-known theme song by The Rembrandts.
Another user comes up with, " I was going to read the report for this but it was 18 pages... FRONT AND BACK! It rambled on for so long that I fell asleep," which is of course about the very, very long letter Rachel wrote to Ross after one of their breakups. And, "That's clearly not Ross. They’re as different as night and... later that night," which is one of Monica's most well-known lines. There were many, many more and every single one of them is funny.
The police even got in on the fun saying that David Schwimmer was confirmed in the US at the time of the incident and they were, "sorry things had to be this way."
However, the best reaction came from David Schwimmer himself who made his own video to claim his innocence. Well, sort of.
Officers, I swear it wasn't me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation. #itwasntmePosted by David Schwimmer on Wednesday, October 24, 2018
