Prince Harry is now "regretful and embarrassed" by his explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, a royal expert has claimed.

Duncan Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, got to know the Duke of Sussex, 36, during his decade-long stint as a royal editor.

He described the sixth in the line to the succession of the British throne as a "hot-head."

"Harry was clearly hurt and angry about Meghan's experience with the royals - and used the interview to get it out," Duncan said. '

"But after returning home, I've no doubt he's been feeling embarrassed, regretful and awkward. He's now facing the consequences. I believe he'll regret that interview - and maybe his decision to leave the Royal Family."

But some royal fans were harsh with their anger over the Duke of Sussex's agreement to do the interview for the first time.

"we have all moved on from him and that woman ......he needs to do the same as he is no longer welcome in the UK ......he should grow up ......" one comment read.

"Impulsive, impatient and hasty too - like his way too rushed marriage to an entirely unsuitable woman whose main motives in the beginning were very clearly fame. William and Kate's seven year courtship before they married is a stark contrast," a shady comment read.

"Too late, Mate. You don't attack your family, especially our Queen," a third chimed in.

The Sussexes made a series of bombshell claims about their time as working royals during the two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey.

These included claims of racism in the palace, where one member of the royal family allegedly brought up "concerns" over Archie's skin tone.

Meghan argued Archie, unlike his first cousins, her son Archie does not have an HRH title.

Meghan revealed that during discussions about Archie's title, some members of the family had “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

Meghan, like Harry, refused to identify the family member, saying,

“I think that would be very damaging to them.”

In the interview, Harry and Meghan also made comments about William and Kate. Prince Harry told Oprah his brother and father are "trapped" as royals. While Meghan spoke about reports she had made Kate cry ahead of the royal wedding - claiming it was the other way round.
