Chocolate Or Cheese?: Sainsbury's 'Cheester Egg' Is Now Available In The UK

On the hunt for an Easter egg for a loved one who's not exactly a big chocolate fan? We might have the perfect solution for you.

Nowadays, it feels as if after about three solid months of nothing but Christmas, Easter products take over the shelves of our stores. While the last thing we want to be reminded of during the first week of January is what we will have to spend our money on next, by about this time of the year with only a month to go until Easter, we're cool with it.

Whether you have had your ideal Easter egg haul picked out since New Year or you're yet to select your perfect treat, we have a little bit of news for you. This year, not all of your eggs have to be made of chocolate. We love chocolate as much as anyone, which is why we love it when Easter rolls around, but the sheer amount of it can sometimes be hard to handle.

How about a savory egg to break up the endless stream of sweet? That's where UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's comes in. This year, Sainsbury's is offering its customers the Cheesealicious Cheesy Easter Egg, reports The Independent. The name may have given it away already, but for those who can't believe their eyes, yes, that is an Easter egg made entirely out of cheese.

The egg is made of a little more than 4 oz of cheddar cheese, and nothing but cheddar cheese. Don't worry though, it isn't just one solid egg that you will need to gnaw your way through for days. It's actually pretty soft. Soft enough to spread in fact, and it comes with oatcakes and chutney to make your Easter cheese experience complete.

While you will need to live in Britain to experience this cheesy treat, you won't need to break the bank to get your hands on it. The egg currently retails at £5 ($6.60 USD). The cheese egg aficionados among you will know that this isn't the first Easter treat of its kind. Last year, Asda sold a Blacksticks Blue cheese Easter egg. The UK clearly values a savory Easter egg, and we admire that.
