Let's just say, Scott Mackinlay does not have a tattoo that says Winona Forever.

Winona Ryder has been romantically linked to a lot of A-list actors over the years. One of her most famous relationships was with Johnny Depp, who she continues to defend to this day. But her now ten-year relationship with Mackinlay is so different from any of her other relationships. It has been without headlines, and thankfully without drama.

Ryder and Mackinlay have shared a private relationship for a long time, so much so that you probably didn't even know the actress was dating anyone. That's how Ryder likes it. Growing up in a very grounded household, Ryder has always been private, but keeping her personal relationship with her long-time boyfriend is probably her first priority.

Here's how the couple could have met, and what their plans for the future may involve.

They Might Have Met Through A Certain Rockstar

Like we've said, Ryder and Mackinlay's relationship is extremely private. So of course, there's not a lot we actually know about it. One thing we do know is that they started dating in 2011.

Another thing we know is what Mackinlay does for a living, and it could possibly help us figure out how the couple met.

It sounds like he's the perfect guy for Ryder, that much we know.

He's basically a jack of all trades. He's the hot CEO, the surfer, the outdoorsy explorer, and the perfect boyfriend who supports his other half on red carpets. What more could Ryder want?

Compared to her other relationships, Ryder seems to have more in common with Mackinlay. It's safe to say that she was probably sick of high-profile relationships by the time she met Mackinlay. Ryder has always called herself an outsider, and Mackinlay definitely sits in a world outside Hollywood.

Mackinlay is one of the founders of Loomstate, a company that makes sustainable fashion, that boasts its creation of "the OG of organic cotton T-shirts." They started in 2004 and have worked with Chipotle to create their uniforms.

He also co-founded the now-defunct brand ROGAN with Rogan Gregory, and later on, they teamed up again for the label Egun, along with U2's Bono and his wife Ami. There's a key name in there, though.

Insight into how the pair met could come from the Irish rockstar of all people. Some of Ryder's fans will know that she's been friends with Bono since the '90s (there have been rumors that they've been romantically liked as well).

During Ryder's trial for shoplifting in 2002, it was revealed that she not only kept long-time friend Keanu Reeves' (and who some sources believe to be her husband-more on that to come) phone number but also Bono's, in her datebook.

So since Bono is clearly a mutual friend, this leads us to believe that they could have possibly met through the rockstar. But this is Ryder we're talking about, she's extremely private so we may never know.

We Also Know That Ryder Is Hesitant About Marriage

To this day, Ryder and Reeves still maintain that they were actually married during a scene in Bram Stoker's Dracula, where an actual priest performed an actual wedding ceremony for their characters. Reeves says he still gets texts from Ryder saying, "Hello, husband."

This, of course, is a joke between the friends, but marriage is not a joke to Ryder, considering she has parents that are still madly in love with each other to this day. She calls herself "a serial monogamist."

"But marriage? I don’t know," she told Net-a-Porter's The Edit. "I’d rather never have been married than been divorced a few times. Not that there’s anything wrong with divorce, but I don’t think I could do it if that was a possibility. When your parents are madly in love for 45 years, your standards are really high. But I’ve been happily with someone for quite a while now."

Various sources have said that she might be open to marriage, and even kids, eventually but the couple probably won't want a big wedding. Their private people, remember? They don't even have social media. Some publications aren't even sure what Mackinlay's exact age is.

So, if they do get married, we probably won't even know about it. At this point, we're just glad they found each other. Ryder isn't an outsider anymore, she has Mackinlay. We can picture the couple living off the land, with no electricity, in some remote town in Montana, going hiking, and growing organic cotton for Mackinlay's company. Or maybe even being a little like Adam and Barabara.
