The Santa Clarita Diet star is known for having appeared on the first movie of the Scream saga, directed by late filmmaker Wes Craven. The iconic scene of Barrymore sporting a blonde bob as she talks on the phone with Ghostface has entered pop culture, making the actress one of the most recognizable faces in the genre.

Drew Barrymore Is Terrified Of Scary Movies

Barrymore was discussing a study reported by Forbes Magazine about horror movies on a recent episode of her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show.

Science has revealed what is the scariest movie of all time. The study measured viewers’ heart rates as they watch fifty of the top-rated scary movies of all time. According to the study, 2012 Ethan Hawke starring Sinister is the most terrifying horror film of all time, whereas 2010 Insidious features the biggest jump scare.

“Everyone says these movies are just terrifying,” Barrymore commented.

“Funny enough, contrary to probably popular belief, I am terrified of scary movies and do not watch them,” she revealed.

The admission prompted Barrymore’s co-star, writer and actress Jill Kargman, to point out Barrymore is, quite literally, the “Scream Queen”.

“I know! That’s what makes it so weird,” Barrymore continued.

“I used to watch a lot of movies… Does anyone remember The Changeling or Audrey Rose, The Exorcist?” she addressed the audience.

“When we were growing up, scary movies were like, a mental-mind you-know-what and now it’s just like everyone’s worst nightmare come true,” she also said.

Barrymore admitted that she thinks a horror movie night is the best idea for a date as it prompts the couple to bond over a scary experience and laugh about it.

Barrymore Addressed Feud Rumors With Jennifer Aniston

In a recent episode of her show, Barrymore invited Hubie Halloween star Adam Sandler for a virtual chat. The two actors have starred together in two popular romcoms, The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates.

Barrymore and Sandler addressed the rumors of an ongoing competition between her and Jennifer Aniston, another of Sandler’s longtime screen partners.

I just got excited, there was like, a hot debate on Twitter about you, me, and Aniston,” Barrymore told Sandler in their video chat.

“I love you, you know I love Aniston and so do you, we’re all great friends,” he said.

Sandler also said that the debate sounded “nuts.”

“What I wanted to do is respond and say, ‘I would pick [Aniston] too’ and let everyone know that we all are kind of like, a triangle,” Barrymore then added.
