Andrea Iervolino is a 34-year-old Italian film producer best known for his work on movies like The Cavalier of Love, The Humbling, and Waiting for the Barbarians.
In 2020, he was on Variety 500's list of the global media industry's most influential figures, and over the years he was nominated and has received numerous prestigious awards.
Gomez and Iervolino met in 2016 on the set of the drama movie In Dubious Battle which they both worked on. Andrea Iervolino was a producer on the project while Selena Gomez portrayed Lisa London. Apart from Gomez, the movie also starred James Franco, Nat Wolff, Josh Hutcherson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Robert Duvall, and Ed Harris. In Dubious Battle is based on John Steinbeck's 1936 novel of the same name, and it currently holds a 6.0 rating on IMDb.
Back in 2018, the Italian was spotted with Selena Gomez for the first time outside a work environment. Iervolino was the former Disney Channel star's date for the Children's Hospital of Orange County's prom that summer. Even back then, many assumed that the two were more than just friends, but neither have ever confirmed this.
In 2021, the two were once again spotted together, this time celebrating the Fourth of July in Los Angeles. Soon after, they traveled to Capri where they spent Gomez's birthday shopping with friends. However, 2021 wasn't the only time Iervolino attended Gomez's birthday celebrations. In 2019, the musician and actress visited Italy for her 27th birthday, and the movie producer was there to celebrate with her.
Selena Gomez And Andrea Iervolino Romance Rumors
During the summer of 2022, Andrea Iervolino was once again linked to Selena Gomez, and many fans believe the two stars began a romantic relationship which evolved from their friendship over the years. On August 4, Selena Gomez was spotted celebrating her 30th birthday on a yacht in Positano, Italy, and once again — Andrea Iervolino was in attendance.
The Daily Mail shared photos of the two on the yacht which ended up sparking the rumors. Iervolino could be seen helping Gomez get into the water, and after swimming together the two sat next to each other on the yacht where they seemingly had a long conversation.
However, a source for Us Weekly has denied that the two are anything more than just good friends.
"Selena and Andrea are just friends. She’s dating and is keeping her options open with a few guys. Selena and Andrea go way back and have celebrated her birthday together many times before," the source said. "They have become close over the years after working together on In Dubious Battle in 2016. They have an amazing time together but there’s nothing romantic going on between them."
The source added that the celebrations have included numerous other friends and that the two weren't alone.
"They all had a blast celebrating in Italy eating, swimming, shopping, partying on their boat, banana boat rafting, and just goofing off. Selena doesn’t look at Andrea that way at all and things are totally platonic between them. Whenever she’s in Italy she usually meets up with him, he’s a great tour guide," the source revealed. "Now that she’s started producing more and is looking at taking on new projects, he’s someone she’s in touch with about work too. But anytime people have questioned if it’s romantic between them she’s quick to make it clear they’re just friends."
However, the photos from the yacht — including one in which the producer can be seen stroking Gomez's feet — have led many to believe that the two are indeed dating, but trying to keep their romance private.
In an episode of the TaTaTu series Giving Back Generation which was shot in 2022, Gomez has revealed her thought on marriage. "I hope to be married and to be a mom," the actress said. "Eventually, I'm going to be tired of all of this, so I'm probably just going to devote most of my life to philanthropy before I peace out." Only time will tell whether Andrea Iervolino will end up being the one for the famous former Disney Channel star.
