Recently, Zachary Levi said he was in “hardcore” agreement that COVID-19 vaccine manufacturer Pfizer “is a real danger to the world.” The tweet was interpreted by many as the actor taking an anti-vaccine stance.

Levi retweeted Lyndon Wood, an infamous British anti-vaxxer who, in his Twitter bio, proudly admits he's been accused of anti-transgender views.

Levi followed up his tweet by sharing a link to a Justice.gov press release explaining that Pfizer is paying $2.3 billion as part of a fraud settlement back in 2009. “Just one example of what I’m referring to…” he tweeted alongside the link.

Levi, who identifies as a Christian, gave an interview last year to CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network). This network was founded by The 700 Club Pat Robertson, who has a history of sexist and homophobic comments.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel appeared on the network to promote his book Radical Love: Learning to Accept Yourself and Others, while opening up about his struggles with depression.

Zachary Levi has been facing backlash on social media ever since he posted an anti-Pfizer tweet, which people asking for him to be fired or refusing to see his upcoming movies.

James Gunn, the new co-head of DC Studios, was asked to weigh in on Levi during a press event the data after his Tweets were sent.

“Just real simply: Actors and filmmakers that I work with are going to say things that I agree with and things that I don’t agree with,” Gunn said. “And that’s going to happen. I don’t have a list of things that somebody should say because of what I think. And you know, I can’t be changing my plans all the time because an actor says something that I don’t agree with.”

“By the same token, if somebody’s doing something morally reprehensible then that’s a different story,” Gunn added. “We have to take all that stuff into account. It’s a balance. It’s modern world and it’s a different place.”

Gunn, of course, is no stranger to controversy himself. He was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for jokes he made on social media years earlier. He was eventually rehired after DC snagged him to make their Suicide Squad sequel.

It's not just Levi's controversy he has to deal with. The Flash star Ezra Miller recently pleaded guilty to misdemeanor unlawful trespass and is receiving mental health treatment “I will say here that Flash is probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made,” Gunn said.

“Ezra is completely committed to their recovery, and we are fully supportive of that journey that they’re on right now. When the time is right, when they feel like they’re ready to have the discussion, we’ll all figure out what the best path forward is. But right now they are completely focused on their recovery. And in our conversations with them over the last couple of months, it feels like they’re making enormous progress," DC head, Peter Safran claimed.
