If anyone follows TV shows that have a ton of seasons and an ever-growing fanbase, they've probably heard of Shemar Moore. He was born in 1970 and his major claims to fame are playing long-standing characters on shows like The Young and the Restless and Criminal Minds. He was also a former male model and spent the better part of five years as the third permanent host of Soul Train. Case in point: this guy has been there and done that.

His career aside, Shemar Moore is a pretty interesting guy. He's been linked to several A-list women throughout his career, runs his own fashion line, has a pretty rabid fanbase, and gives back to charity. He's a busy man and looks darn good multitasking all of the things life throws at him. Here are 15 things that even the most die-hard Shemar Moore fan might not know about him.

15  Shemar Moore's Drink Order May Surprise You

Shemar Moore sat down with BuzzFeed to talk about his likes and dislikes and had a lot to say. For example, when he was asked about the drink he'd normally order when he goes to the bar, he said that he orders Ciroc Peach and Pineapple. As a person who drinks Ciroc Peach and Pineapple, I can tell you that it's a solid drink order. It has the added benefit of not tasting much like alcohol. If he's buying a drink for a woman, he goes with rosé, because he's one class act (if you ask me).

So if you find yourself face to face with Shemar Moore in a bar, and he decides to buy you a drink, chances are he's recommending these to you over anything else. That being said, these are not bad choices if you're in a bar and are lost on what to drink.

14 He Has A Huge Gay Fanbase

Shemar Moore has a huge gay fanbase and has been the subject of rumors that he's gay himself. While he doesn't seem to mind having a gay fanbase and acknowledges them all the time, he does take issue with people spreading the rumor that he's gay. He talked to BET.com and their fans, and when some of them asked if he was gay, he denied it. "I just think it's all silly. If you're gay, you're gay. I'm not, and I know that, and I'm very comfortable with who I am and I love women." He went on to say "I've dated plenty of them. If you think I'm gay, send your girlfriend over to my house for the weekend and see what happens. For real, you can call that arrogant if you want to. I just call it confident. You can call me whatever you want, but you don't know me."

13 He Was Bullied For Being Biracial

Shemar Moore has also gone on record about his being biracial and the things he had to deal with as a result of being biracial. He was bullied as a kid for being biracial, but in his mind, it's just not an issue at all. “You know, I don’t play the race card a lot. I’m half-black, half-white, and I’m proud of – my skin is brown. The world sees me as a black man, but my mother didn’t raise me as a black man. She didn’t raise me as a white guy.”

In a 2013 interview with BET, Moore talked about the difficult transition of moving back to the United States after spending some time away from there. “It was after we moved back. I was six, and I remember how different everyone made me feel when I was in school. Why does your hair look like that, why is your skin that color, how come your mom is white, how can you be cousins with so-and-so. That’s how I learned I was good at baseball because kids would chase me after school, so I started picking up rocks and throwing them to fight back.”

12 He Uses This Phrase Way Too Much

If you watch Criminal Minds, you know that Shemar Moore loves the phrase "baby girl." He's always saying it on the show and when you see him on social media, he's saying it there, too. It's kind of like he took on the quirks of his character on the show and just took a liking to the phrase. He even went so far as to create a fashion line based off of his famous catchphrase. The line doesn't reinvent the mold or anything, but if you like clothes that say "baby girl" on them, Shemar Moore's fashion line is where you want to go. On top of that, the money made by his fashion line goes to a good cause! He sends a portion of the proceeds from every sale to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of his mom.

11 His Dogs Have Adorable Names

Shemar Moore's dogs' names are Shug and Moe, which are really cute names for bulldogs! He's been seen with them pretty much everywhere, even in his super expensive car, which is saying something, considering how much bulldogs slobber. If anything, that might show off his general unpretentiousness. He's so well known for having multiple bulldogs that fan sites will feature them prominently. This isn't just for Shemar Moore fans, either, this is for fans of the breed as well.

His Criminal Minds co-stars also have dogs and the show, in general, is associated with actors who are public with love for their dogs. For example, Matthew Gray Gubler and Paget Brewster have both been seen with their dogs and photographed in the tabloids with them. Also, Joe Mantegna has been seen with his dog, which is surprisingly tiny and flies in the face of his tough guy image!

10 He Knows What He Wants

When Shemar Moore sat down with BuzzFeed, he was asked a bunch of questions about the things he likes and dislikes. When asked about the music he was listening to, he responded with "Drake, Future, Imagine Dragons, Kat Dahlia, Hozier, and all kinds of old-school jams." When asked what food items he couldn't resist, he had an answer that a lot of us would probably give: "Homemade chocolate chip cookies and Ben & Jerry's ice cream." He picked dogs over cats, Instagram over Twitter, coffee over tea, N*SYNC over the Backstreet Boys, and bacon over Nutella. Basically, if your dream is to date this particular actor, he laid all of his preferences out for just about everything over his long and storied career. So if your answers match his, there could be a chance!

9 English Isn't His Native Language

Shemar Moore spent many years outside of the United States as a child, and is a child of different cultures, so it stands to reason that English might not be his native language, which it isn't.

He was born in California, but his first language was Danish, not English. He moved to Denmark as a baby when his mom took a job overseas to teach math. He's talked about this more than once in interviews, including videos on his official YouTube channel.  He stayed there until he was four when he and his mother moved from Denmark to Bahrain. That's where he learned to speak English. And although English wasn't his first language, we would have never known. He's a pro.He doesn't speak any other languages besides Danish and English, but it's still pretty cool that he was basically bilingual before he reached the first grade.

8 He Lived In a Lot Of Different Countries As A Kid

Shemar Moore managed to become world traveled before he entered the first grade than most of us do in our whole lives. During his early childhood, he lived in several other countries other than the United States, which is how Dutch became his first language. However, he didn't just live in Denmark. He also spent time in Bahrain and Ghana before coming back to California. "When I decided to move out to L.A. to try acting, nobody was betting on me, not even my family. But it's always been that way for me, nothing has come easy. I grew up outside of the country, first in Denmark, then Bahrain and Ghana. When my mother moved us back, it was a very difficult transition. I still remember the first time somebody called me n*****." he told BET.

The reason why his family chose to do this was to protect him from the political climate in the United States at the time. It was the '70s, so racial tensions were a real thing. One can hardly blame Shemar Moore's mother for wanting to shield him from that for as long as possible.

7 He's Linked To Toni Braxton

Shemar Moore was in a music video with Toni Braxton, and she was his first real Hollywood relationship. He talked to BET about his relationship with Toni Braxton, saying: “[Toni Braxton] was my first Hollywood relationship. I was a baby, I did not know sh*t. I had just graduated from college, I had no money and I was on Young and the Restless. She called my agent when she was shooting a video in Miami, and it just went from there. I was like the little kid who found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It was a wild ride with Toni. She would never sing for me, though. That always bothered me.”

One could hardly blame him for jumping into a relationship with Toni Braxton, especially in the '90s when she was taking over the world.

6 His First Love Was Halle Berry

In an interview with BET, Shemar Moore opened up about the women in his life and admitted that he still had a soft spot in his heart for Halle Berry, going so far as to call her his first love.

“She was the first woman to really knock my socks off. I fell hard for Halle. A lot of people now know we dated, but we had to keep it hush-hush at the time because she was fresh off her divorce from David Justice. I’m still grateful for that relationship. I was smitten not just because of who she was, but because we were so similar in so many ways. She was biracial, she was kind of going through the same things I was in Hollywood." He continued to compare his former flames by saying, "Toni was a fun ride, but Halle was a necessary experience. It made me much stronger as a man, and knowing the caliber of woman I want in the future.”

5 He Loves His Mom

Shemar Moore is an only child who's the son of a single mom, so it makes sense that he'd be a bit of a mama's boy. His relationship with his mom is really sweet: he brings her up all the time in interviews. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis back in 1998, and he had a hard time with her diagnosis. The actor told People, “I went through the whole denial thing for a couple of years. I was like, ‘Take a couple aspirin and go to sleep…You’ll be fine. You’ll be fine. Go get a massage and slow down.'” Only later did the actor realize how much his mother was affected by the disease. “I just had to check myself and say, ‘Listen, she’s scared and asking for help, so let’s help her turn in the right direction.'” He ended up moving her to LA so she could be closer to him as a result of the diagnosis, which is a pretty cool thing for a son to do.

4 He Has A TV Guilty Pleasure

Shemar Moore's TV guilty pleasure is America's Funniest Home Videos, but we can also argue that one of his favorite shows is Criminal Minds. He was a fixture on that show for years and was a major fan favorite. Despite leaving the show in season 11, he actually came back during the most recent season finale.“Shemar’s appearance was a sort of a dual purpose,” explains Executive Producer Erica Messer to EW. “Fans have been missing him, obviously. And we had such a big storyline with Dr. Reid all year that would have been great to have him a part of."  The reason why they chose now to put Moore back in the show was because they know that since his new show, SWAT, got picked up for a series, that they could never bring him back to the show again.

3 The First CD He Ever Bought Was LL Cool J's

The first song that Shemar Moore ever memorized might surprise you, and it might surprise you, even more, to find out that he still has the song memorized. "The first song I ever memorized and still know all of the words to is LL Cool J's 'I Need Love,' when I was in the seventh grade." He also has gone on record about his current musical tastes.

According to his sit-down with Buzzfeed, his current musical playlist is pretty varied. When asked what he was currently listening to, he said: "Drake, Future, Imagine Dragons, Kat Dahlia, Hozier, and all kinds of old-school jams." He's also been a fixture at music awards shows. For example, he made the news over at PopSugar when he flashed his abs at the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards. As much as he's known for being a good actor, he's probably most famous for things like that.

2 He Has A Food Weakness

Everyone loves pizza. Most people, regardless of their stances on other things, can agree that pizza is a universal good — even if they can't eat it very often for whatever reason.

Shemar Moore is no exception. His favorite toppings on pizza are "Pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms, or BBQ chicken." However, this isn't actually his favorite food. He was asked this during an AMA he did on Reddit, and his answer was pretty similar to what any one of us would probably say. "I love homemade cooking!! I don't cook all that well, but I bake, so I'll wash the dishes and provide dessert. Soul food, Chinese food, Indian food, Mexican, and Italian." From what we could tell from this AMA, he's the kind of guy that anyone would be happy to have dinner with!

1 He Wants To Take On New Roles

Now that Shemar Moore has played several long-running parts in different, equally beloved TV shows, he's hoping to expand his career beyond all of that. There's no denying he has star power, and on top of that, his fans love him, so he could very easily become the next big movie star.

Reflecting on his career, Moore said, “After eight years on Young and the Restless and eight years on Criminal Minds, I’m ready for that next phase of my career. I wanna chase down Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Will Smith.”

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to seeing what Shemar Moore does next. He could end up creating another much beloved character on SWAT, or he could end up becoming the next big action hero and end up on the big screen for years to come. Only time will tell!
