Admittedly, it has been a while since Sienna Miller was in the headlines. And the last time she was, it was because of her love triangle with various other high-profile celebrities.

But Sienna Miller wants people to focus more on her career rather than her personal life, and for a while, that's kind of what happened.

Yet she came out with a statement about her career and industry that had people shaking their heads, and fans apparently began abandoning her in droves. So what did she say, and why were fans so upset about it?

Sienna Miller Brought Up A 'Dangerous' Issue

She's played plenty of different roles, and some had heavy themes. But in an interview not long ago, Sienna Miller shared her thoughts on a "dangerous" trend in Hollywood, but it wasn't quite as intriguing a "problem" as the actress seemed to think.

Her perspective? That "diversity type-casting" is a poor practice, given that it's an attempt to "start to legislate on creativity." To be clear, Miller was speaking out against the effort to cast appropriately diverse people in roles that, well, call for diverse actors.

Miller's position was that "everybody should be able to play everybody," which might sound creatively wholesome. At least, it might sound that way to actors who aren't people of color, or those who are neurodiverse, or people with disabilities, physical or otherwise.

But then Sienna went a step farther and elaborated, "It feels like liberal is becoming almost fascistic in its controlling of what can and cannot be done. It feels dangerous to me."

To sum up, she says she's not trying to be "insensitive," but she's saying that she shouldn't be limited in what roles she plays because of her background.

The thing is, people who are minorities would probably ask for the same thing; to not be limited to specific roles based on their backgrounds. And yet, Sienna wants not only roles that suit her, but ones that suit them, too.

And guess which party gets more gigs based on fitting into a broader "typecast" mold?

What Do Other Celebrities Say About Diversity In Hollywood?

Though Sienna Miller may feel a kinship with Scarlett Johansson based on the latter's similar sentiments, not every actor in Hollywood thinks the same way. Fans definitely don't.

There are plenty of examples of different groups of people being typecast in negative ways, including the issue with Zoe Saldana's illustrious yet boxed-in career.

So to hear Sienna Miller, a model's daughter and an English woman who attended boarding school, complain about missing out on roles because of efforts at increasing diversity definitely rubbed fans the wrong way.
