Earlier this month, rap icons Eminem and Snoop Dogg teamed up to front one of the biggest Super Bowl halftime shows of all time, alongside Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J Blige, and rapper 50 Cent.

But despite teaming up for the special occasion, many fans will recall how the Slim Shady hitmaker once turned down a feature request from Snoop, prompting many to speculate whether the two Hip Hop stars were feuding with one another.

It’s no secret that Eminem and Snoop haven’t exactly always seen eye-to-eye, as both rappers have subliminally dissed one another in each other’s rap songs. And while Eminem once claimed Snoop to have been his idols, it’s particularly interesting that the pair were engaged in such a lengthy feud with one another.

Snoop Dogg Dissed Eminem In A 2020 Interview About The Best Rappers

The rappers’ issues stemmed from a July 2020 interview when Snoop publicly said Eminem wasn't in his list of top 10 greatest rappers of all time.

For someone who has sold over 100 million albums and is deemed as one of the best lyricists in rap, it’s easy to see why the father-of-one would have felt insulted by the remark, particularly since the comment came from a rap veteran.

During his interview with The Breakfast Club, Snoop had praised his pal Dr. Dre’s talents in the music industry, saying Eminem’s success was very much because of Dre and the many songs he produced for the Detroit native.

“Eminem! ‘The Great White Hope’. White rappers had zero respect in rap. Let’s keep that one thou-wow,” Snoop explained.

“[Dre] has probably put Eminem in the position where he would be considered one of the top 10 rappers ever.

As to whether he thinks Eminem would be part of his list of greatest rappers, he added: “I don’t think so, but the game feels like that he’s top 10 lyricists and all that that comes with it. That’s just because he’s with Dr. Dre. and Dr. Dre helped him find the best Eminem that he could find.”

“There’s some n****s in the 80s that [Eminem] can’t f*** with. Like Rakim, like Big Daddy Kane, like KRS-One, like LL Cool J … Like Ice Cube.”

Eminem Responded To Snoop Sogg's Diss

Eminem clearly didn’t appreciate Snoop’s comments, having later responded on his song Zeus, which appeared on the deluxe cut of his album Music To Be Murdered By.

“As far as squashing beef I’m used to people knocking me,” he rapped on the track. “But just not in my camp / And diplomatic as I’m tryin’ to be / Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me / Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me / Meh, not really (haha) / I had dog backwards.”

But apparently, Snoop’s remarks about Eminem were all over the latter’s decision to turn down a feature request.

The Feud Started After Snoop Dogg’s Collaboration With Eminem Got Denied

According to fellow rapper Daz Dillinger, Snoop stopped considering Eminem one of his favorite rappers after being turned down for a feature.

The Sensual Seduction chart-topper supposedly was not happy when Eminem “said no” to an offer of appearing on his album.“He took it personally and that’s why you never heard a song from Snoop and Em since then.”

Eminem later spoke out about Snoop’s thoughts about his rap music in a New Year’s Eve interview, saying: “Again, I probably could’ve gotten past the whole tone and everything.

But it was the last statement where he said, ‘Far as music I can live without, I can live without that shit,’” he said. “Now you’re being disrespectful. It just caught me off guard. I wasn’t ready for that.”

By the look of things, though, it would seem as if Snoop and Eminem have buried the hatchet — or at least for the sake of Dr. Dre, who has been longtime friends with both rappers since the start of their careers. Their Super Bowl halftime show was reportedly watched by over 120 million people in the U.S. alone.

Perhaps now that things are on better terms for the two, Snoop can finally get that feature from Eminem after all.
