Thanks to the success of his debut album, Doggystyle, in 1993, Snoop Dogg quickly became one of the biggest rappers in the world, with a reported $150 million fortune, according to Celebrity Net Worth. To date, Snoop, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has released a whopping eighteen studio albums, including R&G, The Doggfather, and No Limit Top Dogg.

Broadus has also been successful in other entertainment ventures including reality TV, having previously starred in his own show, titled Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, which ran for two seasons on E!. Here, the Grammy nominee welcomed fans into his personal life as viewers were introduced to Broadus’ family; his wife Shante, and their three children, Cordell, Corde, and Cori.

The latter recently made headlines, claiming she battled with depression during the coronavirus pandemic. Her mental breakdown was caused upon by cyberbullies who she said have messaged her some not-so-nice things, which had taken a toll on her self-esteem.

During her candid chat with fans via Instagram, she also expressed that even though her father is a multi-millionaire, she still drives a Toyota Corolla. Here’s the lowdown…

Cori Opens Up About Her Depression

In May 2021, Cori opened up about her own struggle with mental health, admitting that the reason she had taken a break from posting photos and updating fans of her day-to-day life on social media was simply due to the overbearing number of negative comments she had read about herself.

From people commenting on the color of her skin to belittling her facial features, the 21-year-old told her followers that while she’s used to people making fun of her looks, the uncalled-for remarks eventually broke her down — so much that she even contemplated taking her life.

"People just always talk about me, 'You're fat, you're ugly, you're dark, you're this, you're that.' And I used to cry. At thirteen, I was ready to die," Cori said in her lengthy Instagram video. "Just so sad, crying to my mom like, 'I'm so ugly, why did you have me? Why do I look like this? Why don't I look like my brothers?' It was just so many why why why’s.”

“Just because you have money and just because you're able to do certain things that other people can't do, that doesn't mean you don't have a heart, a mind, a soul. I go through it just like everybody else.”

She then also commented on her father’s fortune, making it known that even though her dad is a wealthy man, her life hasn’t changed all that much because she doesn’t rely on her father to live lavishly. So, while people may be under the impression that Snoop’s daughter has it all handed to her because daddy’s a millionaire, Cori says it’s actually quite the opposite.

“It don't matter cause my dad is rich, I drive a Toyota Corolla and I am content. My dad bought me that car and I'm not gonna lie, at first, I was like, 'Hm... a Toyota Corolla?' You just learn to appreciate stuff because, at the end of the day, this stuff don't matter.”

Her dad hasn’t commented on the viral video just yet, though it’s unlikely he’ll say something since Broadus is pretty much known these days for keeping his personal life out of the limelight.

Since her candid revelation, Cori is once again active on Instagram again, and to say that her comments have been filled with nothing but support is an understatement. Thousands of fans have even weighed in on their own mental health struggles and feel much more comfortable talking about it after having heard about Cori’s difficulties — particularly since she’s been dealing with it since her teens.

You’re beautiful, Cori.
