Netflix has been known for releasing reality shows in recent years, such as The Circle, Cooking With Paris and more. Reality shows have always been many people's guilty pleasures. Hello, Big Brother, Too Hot To Handle and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Now, there is a new reality show coming to the platform soon that has a lot of people talking.

Snowflake Mountain was just announced as the latest Netflix reality show at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August 2021, along with other UK reality and entertainment shows. This new show is not a reality drama, but more of a Survivor-esque type show. The title itself is intriguing and has people wondering exactly what the show is about.

Netflix's UK unscripted content leads, Daisy Lilley and Ben Kelly, told The List, "We look for series that have a unique take on a familiar concept and put innovative twists on shows that you wouldn't find anywhere else, so that we can deliver something truly original."

7 What The Show It About

According to IMDb, Snowflake Mountain is about, "A bunch of clueless kidults are put through their paces at a wilderness survival retreat to try and kickstart them into standing on their own two feet. There's no running water, no parents, and, worst of all, no Wi-Fi." For those who don't know a 'kidult' is an adult with childish tastes. This show will most likely be popular among millennials and gen-z, as most of them are in their 20s and older. It is filmed in the Lake District Area in northwest England.

6 When And Where 'Snowflake Mountain' Premieres

We know the show is premiering on Netflix, but there has not been a release date as of yet, according to the streaming service, but is coming soon. Since it was announced this past Summer, it was likely either already filmed or filming at the time, so Snowflake Mountain should be on our TV screens by 2022. Netflix filming is different from broadcast filming, in that it is filmed in bulk and then released in accordance with viewership.

5 Who Is In It?

Not a lot of details about the show has been announced yet, but we can get a clue about the cast from the descriptions Netflix has released. In a statement via TV Insider, Netflix said, "The back-to-basics camp is a rude awakening to just how pampered their lives have been so far. At stake is a transformative cash prize for the lucky winner." With no running water, Wi-Fi or parents around, they'll have to learn to grow up very quickly.

However, it seems as though the show is not currently accepting applications for casting, so it probably has already found it season one cast members. However, Netflix did say they are looking for an international cast.

4 Who's Behind The Scenes?

From Naked, a Fremantle label, Snowflake Mountain is executive produced by Cal Turner and Jo Harcourt-Smith. The series producers are Andy Cullen, Nick Walker, Cherry Sandhu. And, of course, Netflix is the host platform of the show. Fremantle releases "landmark dramas, entertainment and game shows and inspirational documentaries," according to their Instagram page.

3 What Is Snowflake Mountain?

The show is filmed in England, so viewers will get the chance to take in the sights and scenery of the English wilderness. Snowflake Mountain is the country's largest National Park and a World Heritage Site. It is home to Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain, Wast Water, its deepest lake and thirving communities like Keswick. It sounds very beautiful, but the kidults might not find it to be.

2 Kate Middleton Has Visited

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, loves to visit the mountains that will be the star of the new reality show. In September of this year, she visited the area with a Holocaust survivor. But her and Prince William love vacationing there with their kids, where they take hikes and would go boulder-hopping when she was young. According to People, she went mountain biking with air cadets as part of her ongoing campaign of spending time in nature. If the mountains are good enough for the royal family, they are good enough for spoiled kidults.

Fans are already buzzing about the new show. In a now deleted tweet, one Twitter user wrote, "Working on day drinking and I stumbled upon a show coming in 2022... 'Snowflake Mountain.' Yes, it is a reality series. Oh man, that sounds great! They send a bunch of whiny UK brats to live rough (no parents, no running water, no Wi-Fi) for a while. Genius. I'm all in." If the show gets more coverage, maybe more people will post their reactions, but for now, we'll wait until it premieres.
