The Rise of Skywalker (Star Wars 9) is the next Star Wars film to come out, but the plot almost got into the wrong hands when an absent-minded actor left their copy of the script under their bed.
Someone from a cleaning crew scooped it up and put it up for sale on eBay.
3 An Absent-minded Actor
Director J.J. Abrams refuses to say who the offending actor is, but a mistake like this is a big deal. With the script out there in the universe before the movie hits theaters, the “spoiler alert” factor goes beyond recovery.
Luckily, the powers that be at Lucasfilms swooped in and stopped the sale, much to the disappointment of potential buyers who could have claimed a piece of cinematic history.
2 Serious Security
Scripts are sacred in this biz, and Abrams shared how the security is tight. “The actors knew. The security is insane. The company, they were really nervous about anything getting out. So they had only a handful of scripts and they were printed on crazy uncopyable paper.”
1 Script Saved
Since the script was saved from being sold, the storyline is still under wraps. Although, the cleaning person who found it probably peeked. As for the actor who mishandled their script? They surely feel terrible, and hopefully didn’t get into much trouble. Casting for Star Wars films is no doubt quite a process, so finding someone else to fill their shoes would be a lot of work.
The film is expected to hit theaters on December 18th.
