Remember Sharkboy and Lavagirl? Well, they have a daughter now. We're still trying to figure how that is even possible, since Lavagirl destroys everything she lays her hands on, but it has happened anyway!

Taylor Dooley will reprise her role as Lavagirl but Taylor Lautner, the original Sharkboy has been replaced by an unnamed actor.

The Film Is A Combination Of Spy Kids And Sharkboy And Lavagirl

The popular Twilight actor's fans aren't taking the news well, but there's an entire star-studded cast to replace him! There's also some striking resemblances to the Spy Kids films, which doesn't come as a surprise since both films have been directed by Robert Rodriguez.

The stand-alone sequel follows The Heroics, a team of superheroes who need to be rescued by their kids, after being kidnapped by alien invaders. While there probably won't be any spying or the use of otherworldly gadgets, we can expect this new generation of heroes to do well when they buckle up against the aliens.

The short teaser has some underwhelming CGI effects which possibly hint that the film is for a certain age, and places much of its focus on Guppy, the daughter of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.

Fans are wondering if the cool but not cruel Planet Drool will make an appearance or if the film takes place on it.

Fans React To The Teaser

It is true that Sharboy and Lavagirl were not real, but a figment of Max's imagination, the protagonist of The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D. It's making the original's fans question what the film really signifies.

Other fans wondered how the two had a child since Lavagirl burns "everything she touches".

Some users recognized that unlike the poster, the trailer didn't reveal Sharkboy, which he means either the character didn't make it to the film, or the full length trailer will surprise disappointed fans.

The cast includes Narcos stars Pedro Pascal and Boyd Holbrook, Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Haley Reinhart and Vivian Lyra Blair among others.

The superhero film is slated to globally release on New Year's Day via Netflix.
