When it comes to martial arts, Donnie Yen is beyond reproach. This is precisely why he does well in movies such as “Iron Monkey,” “Shanghai Affairs,” “Seven Swords,” “An Empress and the Warriors,” “14 Blades,” “Ip Man” and more. As the character Chirrut Îmwe though in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” fans have said that Yen fell short in acting.

14 Pernilla August

via reddit.com

Pernilla August’s performance as Shmi Skywalker is said to be lackluster. Although, some would argue that August was disappointing in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” and “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” because the role itself was not well-developed. Either way, August’s character was quite forgettable in both movies.

13 Domhnall Gleeson

via syfy.com

Domhall Gleeson is a relatively new addition to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. Prior to this, Gleeson was known as the actor who portrayed the character of Bill Weasley in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise. In transforming into General Hux for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” however, some believe that Gleeson failed to make an impact onscreen.

12 Temuera Morrison

via dorksideoftheforce.com

Temuera Morrison is a New Zealand actor who has starred in a number of movies and tv series over the years. In the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, Morrison starred as Jango Fett, a character who is described as one of the best bounty hunters in all of the galaxy. And yet, it seems Morrison couldn’t strike fear among audiences. Hence, some argue that his performance was rather flat.

Over the years, actor Joel Edgerton has starred in a number of hit films, including “The Great Gatsby,” “Zero Dark Thirty” and “King Arthur.” In the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, Edgerton has portrayed the role of young Owen Lars who happens to be the uncle of Luke Skywalker. Unfortunately, Egerton’s performance comes off as one-dimensional and largely forgettable.

Over the years, actor Ray Park has had a pretty good career. For starters, he has starred in “X-Men,” “G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra” and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” In the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, Park played Sith Lord Darth Maul, a role that he had to share with another actor. And perhaps, because of this, Park never really got to own the character.

9 Terence Stamp

In the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, actor Terence Stamp portrayed the role of Chancellor Valorum. Unfortunately, working on “Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace” left the Oscar-nominated actor pretty miserable, which showed in his performance. During an interview with Empire Magazine, Stamp even berated film writer and director George Lucas saying, “We didn't get on at all. I didn't rate him that much as a director, really. I didn't feel like he was a director of actors; he was more interested in stuff and effects. He didn't interest me and I wouldn't think I interested him.”

8 Daniel Logan

via nerdist.com

Daniel Logan joined the ‘Star Wars’ film franchise as a child actor portraying the role of young Boba Fett. And perhaps, it is his inexperience in films that made for a rather lackluster performance in “Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.” Since then, however, Logan has had a role in another science-fiction franchise, ‘Star Trek.’

7 Jake Lloyd

Jake Lloyd is another actor who joined the ‘Star Wars’ franchise when he was just a child. In fact, Lloyd was cast to play the role of young Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” Unfortunately, it seems that viewers weren’t exactly captivated by his performance. It also didn’t help that during the same year, then child actor Haley Joel Osment earned Oscar and Golden Globes nomination for his role in “The Sixth Sense.”

6 Sebastian Shaw

Whereas Lloyd portrayed the role of young Anakin Skywalker, actor Sebastian Shaw was cast to play the elderly version of the same character. Any fan of the franchise is quite familiar with this character. And so when the time came for Shaw to deliver his performance in 1983’s “Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi,” many were left disappointed. Some even said that Shaw’s character should have never taken his mask off.

5 Hayden Christensen

via syfy.com

Of all the characters who portrayed the role of Anakin Skywalker, there is no doubt that actor Hayden Christensen became the most widely recognized. After all, he was the one who managed to star opposite Oscar-wining actress Natalie Portman. Unfortunately, many believe that Christensen’s acting was terrible. Meanwhile, Christensen himself decided to quit acting after starring in the franchise.

4 Felicity Jones

via scmp.com

Felicity Jones is an actress that starred in 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Unfortunately, the film itself didn’t so well. Many believed it was among the worst ‘Star Wars’ film ever made. And Jones’ performance was pretty decent, although far from being impressive. Perhaps, expectations were just a little too high since Jones is an Oscar-nominated actress.

3 Billy Dee Williams

via nypost.com

In the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, actor Billy Dee Williams portrayed the role of Lando Calrissian, a smooth-talking smuggler who ends up leading the fight against the Empire. Overall, the general impression of Williams’ portrayal is good. However, it can be argued that it doesn’t stand out either. And so, it may have been better if another actor was tapped to play the role.

2 Ahmed Best

via syfy.com

In the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, actor Ahmed Best played the role of Jar Jar Binks. Unfortunately, many viewers were not impressed by his portrayal. Although, some have argued that the character itself was awkward and poorly developed. Nonetheless, Best suffered a lot of criticism and this nearly drove him over the edge. In 2018, Best took to Twitter saying, “20 years next year I faced a media backlash that still affects my career today. This was the place I almost ended my life. It’s still hard to talk about.”

1 Adam Driver

via appocalypse.co

In the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, actor Adam Driver currently portrays the role of Kylo Ren, the grandson of Darth Vader. Unfortunately, some argue that Driver’s approach to the role is rather one-dimensional and weak. It would be nice if his performance can have more impact in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
