Now, while we think that critically acclaimed actress Elizabeth Olsen (yes, the younger sister of THOSE very same Olsens) played a decent Wanda Maximoff (aka the Scarlet Witch) in the Marvel universe, her potential as an actress wasn’t actually explored until the last possible second in the Avengers movies, including Infinity War and Endgame.
And while producers are most likely going to explore her dark side pretty soon, we often wondered what she would have been like if she had been played by someone other than Elizabeth Olsen. And sure, some of these actresses have been pursued Marvel parts before (some BIG Marvel parts) and have even starred in the MCU in other capacities, we wondered how it would look if THEY played the Scarlet Witch.
15 British Invasion - Emily Blunt
Did you know that British actress Emily Blunt was sought after to play the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson’s character) in the MCU? Well, we actually think with her acting range, she would have really brought to life Maximoff in a dramatic fashion. She also can pull off giving her a cheeky side as well, which would have been welcomed.
14 The Queen of Harry Potter - Emma Watson
As we all know now, Emma Watson has moved way the heck on from her Hermione days and is now moved on to star in some bigwig movies and stage productions. Up next for her is playing Meg March in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women. We can see her bringing a level of intellect to the Scarlet Witch that can come off as dangerous.
13 Emmas Everywhere - Emma Roberts
Emma Roberts is basically Hollywood royalty. Her aunt is America’s Sweetheart Julia Roberts and her father is actor Eric Roberts but yet she broke into Hollywood based on her own talent. She quickly rose to fame with her work in the American Horror Story series. Sure, she normally plays high maintenance characters, but it would have been fun with her to take on Wanda.
12 Beauty and Grace - Erin Moriarty
If you have yet to see Erin Moriarty’s face, you’ve been living under a rock. She actually made audiences sit up and take notice in the MCU by starring in Netflix’s Jessica Jones and her latest superhero turn is actually playing one in the dark series The Boys. She would have brought a softness to Wanda that Olsen had lacked.
11 Can Pull Off Anything - Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence is notorious for her versatility and range as an actress. At a young age, she proved to be extremely worthy of being in the MCU universe and did so by starring in X-Men. But what would she have brought to the character of Wanda Maximoff? My guess would be a level of strength she brought to Katniss in The Hunger Games series.
10 From Thrones To Pure Fame - Sophie Turner
Of course, with Game of Thrones in production, Sophie Turner wouldn’t have thought of tacking on yet ANOTHER MCU role to her name, but we would have loved to see a spot of Sansa Stark in the Scarlet Witch. While the reviews of Dark Phoenix wasn’t all they were cracked up to be, we believe she would have been a good addition to the Avengers.
9 Independent Woman - Elle Fanning
Like some of the actresses on this list, Elle Fanning is pretty young still but we believe that she can bring a level of maturity to the character that is far beyond her years. It’s known that Fanning has been playing characters like that since she was a child, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for her to do the same thing with this character.
8 The Young Route - Kiernan Shipka
Even though this Mad Men and Sabrina actress is only 20, like Fanning, she can bring a level of maturity to the role that can come off as dangerous and would be excellent for the Scarlet Witch. We watched Shipka grow in front of our eyes as the hard-headed Sally Draper in the AMC series, so it would be an interesting addition to the MCU.
7 Riverdale-ing It - Lili Reinhart
Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart is quickly becoming one of the most famous faces in Hollywood right now thanks to her turn as the wholesome Betty Cooper in the CW series. Lili seems to bring a form of innocence with each character she plays, and chances are she would bring that to the role of the Scarlet Witch as well.
6 Irish Baby - Saoirse Ronan
Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has been around for a long while, but people finally started to take notice to her after her turn in Greta Gerwig’s coming of age movie Lady Bird, which earned an Academy Award nomination. Like Watson, she’s also is starring in the upcoming Little Women. It would have been interesting to see her turn the MCU role upside down with grace.
5 The Bad Girl Path - Chloe Grace Moretz
Chloe Grace Moretz has been playing the Hollywood game since the age of six and has worked with some famous names. She’s most known for playing Hit-Girl in the superhero movie Kick-A** so she’s no stranger to the superhero world. She would have brought a fearless aspect to the Scarlet Witch that Olsen seemed to be lacking.
4 Versatility Matters - Emma Stone
Sure, we all know that Emma Stone already played opposite Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man so casting her in a different MCU role would’ve been odd. But with her versatility on the screen, she would have brought a unique aspect to Wanda Maximoff that would have made her stand out in a good way.
3 Grown-Up - Abigail Breslin
Sure, we know that 23-year-old Abigail Breslin has been keeping busy over the years with her turns in My Sister’s Keeper, Zombieland, Scream Queens, and now the sequel to Zombieland, but we would have loved to see her in the Marvel universe in some capacity (even if it wasn’t the Scarlet Witch) because she can play the heck out of a butt-kicking character.
2 Overwhelmingly Brilliant - Zendaya
Zendaya has been knocking it out of the park lately. While, yes, she’s already in the MCU as MJ in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man world, we would have loved to see her in this particular part. Zendaya adds a layer of depth that seems to be missing from Olsen’s portrayal of the character. Plus, we love Zendaya in EVERYTHING she does.
1 Up For The Challenge - Bella Thorne
You’d know actress and singer Bella Throne’s face before you knew exactly what she had starred in in the past, which is why she would have been perfect for the Scarlet Witch – she actually LOOKS like how you would picture the character. Not to mention that Thorne is a pretty good actress as well and would have thrived in the Marvel universe.
