For the past twenty years, Disney has been working hard on becoming a real media powerhouse and it definitely seems like they made it. Today thanks to its subsidiaries like Marvel and Lucasfilm, Disney is slaying the competition at the box office. And let's not forget that some of our favorite celebrities such as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Zendaya wouldn't be where they are today without Disney.

And while Disney is known for having a good relationship with actors and actresses they work with, things don't always run so smoothly because people at Disney are also very strict and they will not think twice before firing an actor who broke their rules. Here are 10 stars that were fired by Disney.

10 Gina Carano

The first on our list of celebs who had worked at Disney but later got the chop is actress, and former mixed martial artist, Gina Carano. From 2019 to 2020 Carano was a part of the Disney+ sci-fi series The Mandalorian. She was fired in February 2021 after posting on Instagram that people with different political views today are in pretty much the same situation as Jews were in Nazi Germany.

9 Jake Paul

From getting sued by his neighbors for too much noise and partying, to getting into a physical altercation with Zayn Malik, he has done it all. Yes, we are talking about controversial Youtuber Jake Paul.

In addition to all that, Paul was also supposed to star in Disney Channel's new comedy series, Bizaardvark. He was let go by Disney after getting involved in an incident with his neighbors in Los Angeles. Apparently, the former Vine star was partying way too much, causing too much noise, and even setting furniture on fire in his backyard. His neighbors ended up suing him.

8 Roseanne Barr

Next on our list is the sitcom Star Roseanne Barr, who got fired by ABC (owned by Disney), after posting a racist tweet about Valarie Jarrett, a former aide to President Obama. Her sitcom Roseanne, which was just revived on ABC, was canceled immediately. “It took about five minutes to know what we had to do,” told Disney CEO Bob Iger in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. “It seemed completely insensitive, completely disrespectful. It was very clear. The decision, it was easy to make.”

7 James Gunn

For those who don't know, James Gunn is a movie director most known for his work on The Suicide Squad and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Back in 2018, Gunn's old offensive social media posts about rape, 9/11, child abuse, and similar topics resurfaced, which resulted in him getting fired from Disney.

After dozens of celebrities expressed their support for Gunn and thanks to a fan-made petition with over 400,000 signatures, Gunn was reinstated as the writer-director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

6 Terrence Howard

If you're a Marvel fan, then you know that Terrence Howard appeared in the 2008 Iron Man movie as War Machine. However, he was replaced in Iron Man 2 and all other MCU movies. The reason he was fired? Money issues. Because he thought he wasn't getting paid enough, Howard complained to big guys at Disney and even dragged Robert Downey Jr into the whole story.

5 Patty Jenkins

You probably know by now that Patty Jenkins is the director and screenwriter of Wonder Woman and its 2020 sequel Wonder Woman 1984. She was also set to direct Thor 2, however, due to creative differences, she was replaced by Disney. "I don’t think I could have made a good movie out of Thor 2 because I wasn’t the right director. And I don’t think I would have been in the running for Wonder Woman as a result," said Jenkins in an interview with Uproxx.

4 Jake T. Austin

Actor Jake T. Austin had worked with Disney for quite some time. He had his breakthrough on Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place, after which he moved onto ABC's The Fosters for two seasons. Because of his issues with the law — including drinking underage, almost getting a DUI charge, and being involved with a car crash — Disney decided to fire the actor from The Fosters and replace him with Noah Centino.

3 Stoney Westmoreland

Another actor who got the boot from Disney is Stoney Westmoreland, who was a part of Disney Channel's coming-of-age show Andi Mack. The actor was fired after being arrested in Salt Lake City where the show is filmed, for trying to arrange a date with a 13-year-old boy through a gay dating app Grindr.

2 Adrienne Bailon

You may know Adrienne Bailon from some of the earlier episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians as Robert Kardashian's ex-girlfriend, but before she got involved with the Kardashians, she was a Disney star. Apart from starring in Disney's 2003 musical The Cheetah Girls, she was also featured on Disney's That's So Raven and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Back in 2008, her nude photos leaked online and that was obviously too much for family-friendly Disney, so they decided not to renew her contract.

1 Bella Thorne

Bella Throne has always been honest about her rocky relationship with Disney and how difficult it is to work for Disney. "No one gives Disney kids enough f--king credit," she once said to The Hollywood Reporter. She also honestly spoke on what was going on behind the scenes at Disney  — how they pitted her and Zendaya against each other, how they once almost fired her once before because of a bikini photo, and so on. But Disney decided to let her go by not renewing her contract when her show ended.
