Netflix's Stranger Things is an outstanding TV show that has been entertaining fans for years. Though some were skeptical about the show becoming a success, the show has since become a global brand that millions adore. It has fantastic writing, great acting, and a soundtrack that never misses.

Recently, the show wrapped up its fourth season, and there have been some huge announcements for fans. A fifth and final season will be great, but another show for the franchise is the real winner here.

The spin-off project immediately stole headlines, and we have some key details about it belowQ

'Stranger Things' Is One Of TV's Best Shows

2016 was the year that gave us cultural landmarks like Pokémon GO!, Deadpool, and Netflix's Stranger Things. That year was packed with fantastic media offerings, and Stranger Things becoming TV's breakout phenomenon was further proof that Netflix was home to amazing original content.

Starring a group of talented youngsters working alongside established stars like Winona Ryder and David Harbour, Stranger Things seamlessly weaved together '80s nostalgia, Dungeons & Dragons mythology, and sci-fi elements for a horror series that had to be seen to be believed.

Once the series took off, everyone got in on the action. The buzz was for real, and unlike other projects, it lived up to the hype.

Since that astonishing debut season, the show has turned into a modern classic. It's had four total seasons so far. Seasons two and three might not have lived up to the brilliance of season one, but fans were blown away by what the Duffer Brothers accomplished with the show's fourth and most recent season.

Season 4 was brilliant in every way, and thankfully, the series will be coming back for a fifth and final season.

Stranger Things Is Getting One More Season

Back in February, the Duffer Brothers announced that Stranger Things had unfinished business on Netflix.

"There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things: new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope you stay with us as we finish this tale," the duo wrote.

This got fans pumped, months back, and recent developments have ramped up their excitement level to 11.

"Script writing has begun on the final season of Stranger Things. The Netflix series’ writing team posted an image on Twitter on Tuesday with the caption “Day 1,” noting that they are in the beginning stages of writing the season," Deadline reported recently.

Given the time it takes to script, produce, and release a season of the hit series, it's going to be some time before fans get to head to Hawkins one last time with their favorite band of nerds and heroes.

As if one more season isn't great enough news for fans, it's also been announced that the franchise is getting a spin-off series.

What To Expect From The Stranger Things Spin-Off

According to EW, The Duffer Brothers "have just announced both a forthcoming spin-off series and a stage play set within the world of the popular Netflix series. Both will be produced under the Duffer Brothers' newly launched production company Upside Down Pictures, which is tied to film and TV projects that are part of their overall deal with Netflix. The untitled stage play and the Stranger Things spin-off series, "based on an original idea" by the siblings, are just a couple of the many works they have in development."

This is massive news for fans of the series! Not only is a spin-off in the works, but so is a stage production, which could prove to be a hit on Broadway.

The Duffer Brothers have not revealed much of anything about the spin-off, but they've made it clear that it will be a fresh story, and not one that solely focuses on previously-established characters.

"I've read these rumors that there's gonna be an Eleven spin-off, that there's gonna be a Steve and Dustin spin-off, or that it's another number. That's not interesting to me because we've done all that. We've spent I don't know how many hours exploring all of that. So it's very different. The most important connective tissue, I would say, is the storytelling sensibility of it," Matt Duffer said.

It's likely going to be a few years before we get our first taste of the Stranger Things spin-off show, but the wait will be worth it. A fresh series set in the established world is more than fans could ask for.
