Surfing Corgi Uses His Skills As Therapy After Traumatic Dog Attack

Jojo the corgi has become a social media sensation with his mad surfing skills, but he is not just catching some waves for fun.

Josephine and Ryan Hearn are the adorable corgi's owners who are sharing the inspiring and heartbreaking story about how Jojo became the surfing dog king. In 2014, Jojo and Josephine endured a traumatic dog attack one day on their way to the park. Two vicious dogs attacked them leaving Josephine with injuries to her hand and Jojo with physical as well as mental injuries which the Hearns spent their life savings to fix.

However, as the Hearns were doing everything possible to help their beloved pup, they discovered how much hydrotherapy helped him. One day, the couple decided to take him to the beach, where they momentarily sat him on a surfboard for the first time. They were shocked to learn that Jojo not only liked it, but he could balance exceptionally well on the board. Plus, the adorable corgi appeared happy while he was on the surfboard.

As a way to continue therapy, the Hearns began giving Jojo surf lessons and were thrilled to discover that he absolutely loved it. He was a natural at balancing and being in the water gave him a sense of calm. Soon, Josephine started to document the corgi's lessons on Instagram.

He doesn't catch big waves, but Jojo is all about the small swells. The corgi is super careful too, always wearing his shark life-vest. In the pictures Josephine has posted on social media, he has a smile on his face when he is riding the waves. It has become a favorite past time of the Hearns and Jojo. In fact, they all went to Hawaii recently to test out the surfing there.

It seems incredibly unusual for a dog to surf but the pictures of Jojo are proof that they can. Not only is he good at it but it has also given him a new lease on life after the dog attack. His owners have even entered him in dog surfing competitions – yes there is such a thing. He has yet to take home the first prize, but he has come close.
