In light of Mental Health Awareness Month, Kendall Jenner is joining other celebrities by opening up about living with anxiety.

The reality TV star and model is doing a four-part video interview series with Vogue magazine, called Open Minded. During the interviews, she speaks to mental health experts to let viewers know what she's been through with her own anxiety, and what can be done for others who are dealing with similar mental health issues.

She cross-posted the video to her Instagram, with the caption: "I have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks since I was a little girl. I wanted to dive deeper to better understand what I was feeling and more so, to share this information with others who may struggle, too."

The post has received over 5 million likes and 6,900 comments. But, that's no surprise since Jenner is one of the most followed people on Instagram.

In the first video, which was posted on YouTube on May 6th, Kendall reveals she has struggled with anxiety since she was about 10 years old. She stated, "I've had times where I feel like I need to be rushed to the hospital because I think that my heart's failing and I can't breathe and I need someone to help me."

She also mentioned that she is a hypochondriac, and frequently suffers from panic attacks. She traces the triggers of her anxiety back to being overworked and constantly surrounded by people.

This isn't the first time that Jenner has opened up about anxiety, though. Back in 2016, she wrote on her app that anxiety had become a "huge hurdle" for her after her sister, Kim Kardashian, was robbed in Paris. In 2018, she told Harper's Bazaar that anxiety is "debilitating" for her.

Across Instagram and YouTube, there have been many reactions to Jenner's first Open Minded video. Many praised Jenner for opening up about her mental health and helping others.

An Instagram user by the name of marttinsgustav0 commented, "I feel so happy to see people opening up about anxiety, we're not alone guys."

Another user, pimplesandprada, stated, "Love this and love how vulnerable you are being! Thank you for sharing your story Kendall. Maybe it will click for people that she's not cold...just suffering severe and heightened anxiety."

Even still, some commenters were critical of Jenner's efforts. One sarcastic comment read, "Hey, look at me a millionaire, but I have anxiety so I'm just like everyone else please sympathize..."

Countless other comments alluded to the fact that Jenner is rich, and therefore shouldn't be talking about mental health. However, far more users were quick to defend Jenner, explaining that mental illness does not discriminate based on wealth or status.

Jenner herself realized that she may receive backlash for talking about her struggles despite her privileged economic position. She addressed this in the interview as well:

"There is going to be those people that say, 'What does she have to worry about...what does she have to be anxious about?' I'll never sit here and say I'm not fortunate...but that thing up there [her brain]...it's not always happy, and I'm still a human being at the end of the day."
