Survivor is one of the longest-running shows on television and throughout its reign has been packed with many wild moments, plot twists, and plenty of questionable behaviors.

Over the course of 40 seasons, viewers have gotten to know a whole lot of interesting characters. Some were smart, others were compassionate, and some were downright annoying and dirty.

When there is money on the line, humans will do just about anything to get their hands on the prize. Sure, plenty of contestants played fair and remained true to their character and morals, but some became Survivor villains, making them hated by fans everywhere.

Updated on May 27, 2021, by Michael Chaar: Survivor is certainly not for the faint of heart! Over the course of 40 years, fans have witnessed some of the most atrocious behavior from certain contestants, from Robb Zbacnik choking Clay, Jeff Varner outing fellow player, Zeke Smith all the way to a more recent addition from Survivor: Nicaragua, NaOnka Mixon. While there have been some seasoned villains who know how to play the game, some players, including season 1 player Sean Kenniff, find themselves being more obnoxious than anything else.

There are plenty of smart, attractive, and kind female contestants who have appeared on Survivor that plenty of viewers would want to date. Heidi is not one of them. She was far too extra to gain many fans.

She used her good looks to weasel her way as far as she could in the game. Her constant flirting and incessant bragging about her good looks annoyed her fellow tribe members and viewers alike. She was truly a difficult personality to like.

No one likes a whiner, and it is this exact reason that made Survivor contestant, Ghandia Johnson, difficult to root for. She spent much of her seasons trying to manipulate those around her and crying.

Oh yeah, there was lots and lots of crying from Ghandia. While fans couldn't help rolling their eyes at Ghandia's emotional antics, it was her over-exaggerated tale of one evening with fellow cast member Ted Rodgers that truly turned people off, making her one of the most annoying contestants to date!

8 Sean Kenniff

To come out on top in this game, players have to be cunning, strong, and every move that they make needs to be made with thought and decisiveness. Survivor is like a physical game of chess when played correctly. Sean Kenniff was truly obnoxious to watch because he had no premise for how he made choices in voting people off the island.

While everyone else was busy making moves and alliances that made some kind of sense, Sean decided to just vote people off in alphabetical order. This was maddening for everyone, contestants and fans alike.

7 Susan Hawk

While many people wanted to side with Sue Hawk because of her trucker-next-door personality, her infamous "Rats and Snakes" speech made her fans turn on her.

Sue was so over-the-top with her emotions after being betrayed by Kelly that everyone watching the show wanted to write her a letter, send it over to the island via carrier pigeon, and remind her that this was a game of strategy. Fans understood that Survivor wasn't The Girl Scouts, but Sue Hawk didn't.

6 Judd Sergeant

If you found yourself cringing while watching anything that Judd Sergeant did, you were not alone. His vocabulary, which pretty much consisted of the word "man", grated on brains, and he tended to go overboard with adult indulgences and let his words rip. One of his jury rants ranks up there with the all-time most bitter jury incidences.

Judd most certainly had some anger issues lurking below the surface, which were likely exacerbated by the stress of being on a show like Survivor. His personality did not mesh well with reality television, and if we could choose any guy on the show to date, it would not have been Judd.

5 Richard Hatch

Richard Hatch starred in season one of the series and basically wrote the book on reality television villains. His co-stars and fans detested Hatch and the unconventional methods that he used to be the first winner of the million dollars.

If we are being completely frank, no one on Earth enjoyed watching Richard wander around the beach in the nude. Even more, people had an issue with how he treated his fellow contestant Sue Hawk. He is one of the most well-known contestants in all of Survivor history, and also one of the most hated.

4 Colton Cumbie

What can we say about Survivor contestant Colton Cumbie other than he might get the prize for the least amount of admirers? Colton made no friends in the tribe or in the natural world when he decided to take home the immunity idol instead of relinquishing it upon his medical evacuation.

Sure, the show pins contestants against one another as they all fight for the big prize, but to publically claim that you care about no one, as Colton did, will not gain you any kind of fanbase.

3 Jeff Varner

Fans started off really liking Jeff Varner. He wasn't bad at all; in fact, he was kind of easy to get behind and root for. Then, in Game Changers, he shocked his tribe as well as his adoring fans when he outed cast member Zeke.

No one could like Jeff after that, and his fall from grace was pretty epic. He was immediately voted off the island and the consequences of his actions reverberated throughout his life following the show. Some things are simply unforgivable, Jeff.

2 Robb Zbacnik

Robb gave fans a whole bunch of reasons to detest him. For starters, he decided to bring a skateboard to his challenge instead of something useful. Right off the bat, the world decided that this guy was going to end up being annoying.

They were right. He spent his season being rude (poor Shii Ann) and even choked out fellow contestant Clay during a specific challenge. He even had the gall to blame a loss on the rules, instead of poor performance.

1 NaOnka Mixon

We are not sure what exactly there was to like about NaOnka Mixon. The primary talents she chose to showcase in her series included shouting at everyone around her, bullying her tribemates, and picking fights with anyone within ten feet of her.

Her personality was offputting to be sure, then she sealed the deal as one of the more hated contestants when she up and quit with only eleven days on the island left! One of the show's meanest and most selfish contestants to date, for sure.
