Survivor Season 15 erupted one of the biggest yet discrete fanbases for one of the series' contestants. Denise Martin made it into the final four survivors and won over millions of hearts along the way.

Her moral compass and appreciation for Chinese culture shone throughout the season. Although she made her mark on the reality television realm in 2007, her supporters still make noise over the Internet. Let's see how she's doing today.

Controversy After The Show

While Martin still has a positive group of supporters, she fueled some upset headlines over her job post final tribal council.

She told the audience at the Season 15 reunion that she lost her job as a lunch lady after Survivor. Afterward, the show gave her $5o,000 for her stroke of bad luck.

According to an article by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, however, the school Martin worked for claimed that wasn't the entire truth, "They revealed that not only was Martin not demoted to the role of janitor, but she had actually received a salary increase due to a job transfer that she had, in fact, requested prior to appearing on Survivor."

Martin apologized for the misunderstanding and explained that she never meant to contrive the situation.

In a recent Mini-Reunion for Season 15, Denise joined some of her fellow competitors to discuss their most memorable moments. She, of course, brought her warm sense of humor and East Coast personality.

Regarding reactions to Jeff Probst and his commentary during challenges, she agreed that at times the shot was better seen than heard.

She shared, "We're hungry, what'd you have for lunch? Want to smell my breath?" and got everyone on the Zoom call cracking up with her. Apparently, no one loved Probst while competing for the $1 million.

Denise Can Take A Joke

Further in the mini-reunion that took place in May 2020, Denise took some jokes about her difficulty in eating the traditional Chinese dish balut, also known as a chicken fetus. She wasn't having it, in a light tone, and didn't want to think again about the eating challenge.

In true and unfiltered Denise fashion, she detailed the issues that her inconsistent calorie intake caused. After their March feast, she admitted that it was the first time she had gone "number 2" since the season started.

One of the reunion viewers voiced how much they appreciate the Queen of Mullets' involvement with Survivor fans, "Well obviously Denise is here. What I love about Denise is how involved she is in the survivor community."

Another fan noted that she looks exactly the same as she did 14 years ago. She proved to herself that she could accomplish some of her most unbelievable dreams, and remains loyal to the people who made her experience worth multiple lifetimes.

Staying In Touch With Fans

Twitter is still hearing fans' obsession with the Survivor China contestant, as one Twitter user wrote, "I think Denise (Survivor China season) is one of the sweetest most likable players of any season of Survivor. She's so f*cking cute I love her."

The lunch lady from Massachusetts struck a chord with people from all over the country.

She represented people who prove that treating others with consideration and staying true to oneself may not win a competition based on physical challenges and social politics. It does, however, foster friendships with Survivor fanatics she would have never met under normal circumstances.

Her magnetism that won over years of OG Survivor watchers and new ones from quarantine speaks to how much we would freak out if she appeared on a future season. Would fostering alliances earlier in the game secure her a win or even one of the final spots?

In the above photo, Denise posed with one of her dedicated supporters who couldn't believe that he met her in real life. What we would give to throw up some deuces next to one of the best contestants to grace tribal councils.

One of the Redditors who saw the picture left their input on Denise's strategy on the show, "Nice. Everyone gives Denise grief for not flipping and going with PG but she wasn't beating PG or Eric in an FTC. She made the right call but wasn't tight enough with Amanda and took the wrong tactic to get herself to FTC. Pity."

We believe, however, that she doesn't see her loss as a pity. It's unlikely that she would step away from her job again if parts of her issues post-production were true. However, it would be a treat to see her learn from past mistakes and at least make it to the final three.
