It's true that some famous people hate social media. And it's hard to blame them when we hear so many horror stories of celebs who receive mean messages or who get a negative reaction no matter what they do. One star who has spoken about how tough being on Instagram can be is Sydney Sweeney. The popular Euphoria star found fame after playing Cassie on the HBO series, and she's honest about how sometimes, the Internet can be a tough place.

While Sydney Sweeney's roles on Euphoria and The White Lotus have gotten people buzzing and talking, there has also been a lot of conversation surrounding the mean, negative, and just plain unfair messages that she gets online. Keep reading to find out how Sydney Sweeney's creepy fan response has taken a toll due to her Euphoria success.

Sydney Sweeney Received Some Awful Messages From Fans

While Sydney Sweeney keeps her love life to herself, she has been open about the awful and sometimes super creepy DMs that she has gotten on Instagram.

Sydney Sweeney received many DMs when she posted a photo of herself wearing a bikini on Instagram.

According to Dmarge.com, one person messaged her and said, “I’m free every day if you are also free every day please call me so we can hang out every day," which is definitely not something that someone wants to hear from a stranger. Although this pales in comparison to the downright creepy messages she receives every time she posts something scandalous on her Instagram. Then, of course, there are all of her NSFW scenes in Euphoria and the Amazon movie The Voyeurs. Because of these steamy moments, fans just can't stop thirsting over her. But there's a thoughtful way to do it, and a thoughtless way. Creepy fans harassing her and demanding sexual things from her is what's caused Sydney pain. As have the judgemental comments from those who don't think she should be showing off her body.

Lauren Coates wrote a piece for The Mary Sue called "Sydney Sweeney Can and Should Be Allowed to Celebrate Her Body Without Being Defined by It" which is something that Sydney's fans definitely agree with as no one should receive some hateful messages.

Sydney said, "I know everyone says you can't read things, you shouldn't read things, but I'm a f*cking person. I'm just sitting here with my dog, Tank, watching HGTV, wearing my snuggie. People need to be nicer on social media because it's really f*cked up."

Us Weekly reported that Sydney went viral for what she said and tons of fans shared their love for her. Fans really appreciate that she is so open about such a tough subject.

According to Cheat Sheet, Sydney faced bullying when she was a child, and she said that her parents decided that she shouldn't look at her phone anymore since people were so mean and would leave messages on her phone making fun of her.

Sydney said, “At such a young age, too. I didn’t even know why at the time, I was like ‘what am I doing wrong?'"

Sydney explained that she receives some more positive DMs but she knows that they are fake as she hasn't always gotten love and support from people. The actress said, “The number of people I’ve gotten DM’s from or random text messages, those same people who are now like, ‘We’re so proud of you and we’ve supported you the whole way,’ And I’m like, yeah, no you haven’t.”
