The media takes pleasure at exaggerating the details about celebrity breakups and divorces. Though, sometimes the rumors, meltdowns, trash-talking and the blowouts are real. Christian rock-star Melissa Etheridge’s marriage to Tammy Lynn Micheals was probably one of the most explosive divorces during the 2000s. The divorce battle raged on for years, primarily due to former The L Word actress Tammy Lynn Micheals’ bitter nature toward her ex-wife. No one was more sidelined by the divorce than Micheals and it goes without saying, that the actress got the short-end of the stick when the dust settled. Though, everyone still wants to know the truth about Tammy Lynn Micheals.

The Divorce Left Micheals In Shams

Being the wife of a famous rock star seems like a dream come true to some, but for actress Tammy Lynn Micheals it was the exact opposite. At first, the 50-year-old rock star and The L Word actress seemed like the perfect match for each other. They first dated back in 2002 and married a year later in the Fall. Soon after, the married pair welcomed their first two twins, Johnnie Rose and Miller Steven in 2006. The couple seemed to have the perfect marriage, even when Etheridge was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2004. In October 2005, when the rock legend and Micheals appeared on a segment of Dateline NBC, Etheridge noted that her wife had been incredibly supportive during the difficult time.

That statement is a direct far-cry from the words Melissa Etheridge used to describe Micheals during their divorce proceedings, calling her “vindictive and angry.” The two went public with their separation in 2010, which Micheals later told in a series of blogs that she was blindsided. According to Micheals, the two were supposed to file for divorce “in the fall after Etheridge returned from her tour.” Looks like the All There Is singer cut the plug early.

Micheals even admitted that the divorce had left her a single mother and struggling to make ends meet. Etheridge paid child support and 50% of her royalties made from her album The Awakening to Micheals. The L Word actress received $23,000 a month but claimed the money was hardly enough, especially since Etheridge was making $177, 882 a month. Micheals’ motives became suspect after admitting to publications that she had “grown accustomed to living a certain lavish lifestyle” before the divorce. It sounds as though The L Word actress tried to milk Etheridge for every penny she made.

Is Micheals A Good Mother?

There were plenty of eye-popping details revealed during Tammy Lynn Micheals’ divorce battle with Melissa Etheridge. The ex-wives each had their own share of dirty laundry to air out to the public, but probably one of the most shocking details involved Micheals burning their 5-year-old son Miller with a cigarette. Christian Post recorded a statement Micheals made about the incident, stating that “he had snuck up on her from behind, causing her to somehow drop her cigarette on him.” She further wrote in her online blog post that “Miller insisted it didn’t hurt . . . he has an insane pain tolerance.” The statement raises a few eyebrows but her following comment makes people wonder what Micheals’ true intentions are. “Thank God it’s written now, for all the world to see. It’s hard to hide a secret,” the former The L Word star wrote. It makes some wonder just how many of these supposed accidents happened with Micheals and her children?

Micheals Was On The Rise To Fame

Tammy Lynn Micheals seemed more than bitter about the relationship that transpired between her and ex-wife Melissa Etheridge. During their divorce proceedings, Micheals revealed that she was becoming a rising star in Hollywood before she met Etheridge. Additionally, she revealed that in 2001 she quit acting to care for Etheridge’s older children from a previous relationship. In one of her online blogs, the star shared, “gave up my managers, agents, contacts, all that good stuff, because i stepped directly into potty training a small boy, and carrying around a small girl on my hip. both excellent souls. And I was a very huge part in raising them for many many years while She with the Guitar focused on her Guitar.” The 45-year-old gave up her whole life and a dream at stardom.

Before Etheridge came along, Micheals was in fact doing pretty well in the acting world. The actress landed the lead role in The WB’s Popular series when she first moved to Los Angeles. Afterward, the 45-year-old scored other big-time roles, such as guest starring on Showtime’s The L Word in 2004 and in 2005 the NBC series Committed. Even before those mega roles, Micheals starred in the 2003 short film D.E.B.S which went on to win several awards and later was adapted into a feature-length film in 2004. Her latest work happened in 2013 when Micheals was involved in a powerful documentary Untold, a piece about sexual assault survivors, which won such critical acclaim that it led to the “Me Too” Movement. The 45-year-old actress seemed like she was on her way to becoming a prominent Hollywood icon.

Clearly, Tammy Lynn Micheals feels robbed of the flourishing and bright career she could have led. She ultimately lost a huge chunk of her life to her marriage to rock star Melissa Etheridge. The L Word star, unfortunately, suffered an unhappy marriage, having made sacrifices that she shouldn’t have had to, but now she’s forced to work through. Hopefully, the actress has worked through her issues and moved on to better days.
