Ever since the “reality” TV show Dog the Bounty Hunter premiered on television in 2004, the show’s titular star has managed to stay in the spotlight to a certain degree. Given the fact that the series came to an end in 2012, it is pretty amazing that Dog continues to be someone that the masses talk about on a semi-regular basis. Unfortunately, there is no denying that the controversies Dog the Bounty Hunter gets embroiled in have played a role in him remaining in the headlines. On the other hand, a lot of people remain fascinated by other aspects of Dog the Bounty Hunter’s life including his sizable net worth.

In addition to Dog the Bounty Hunter’s personal fortune and television past, there is another part of his history that is truly outrageous, his love life. After all, Dog has been seriously involved with so many women that it often seems like he falls in love and walks down the aisle at a moment’s notice. With that in mind, it is fascinating to look back on what went on between Dog and his ex-wife Tawny Marie Chapman.

Dog’s Wild Romantic History

During Dog the Bounty Hunter’s time in the spotlight, two of his marriages have received a lot of attention. Most notably, as a part of the “reality” show that brought Dog to fame, viewers got to see his relationship with the woman who always seemed to be the love of his life, Beth Chapman. Together for many years before they tied the knot, Dog and Beth walked down the aisle in 2006 and they stayed together until she passed away in 2019.

After the passing of the woman that most people thought he was supposed to spend the rest of his life with, Dog the Bounty Hunter got married again roughly two years later. Of course, people whose spouses pass away shouldn’t have to spend the rest of their lives alone. That said, it was still remarkable to see Dog move on so quickly since he seemed to adore Beth so much. However, anyone who is familiar with Dog’s past should have known that he is the type of person who never stays single for long.

As of the time of this writing, Dog the Bounty Hunter has married six different women. In addition to Beth and his current wife, Dog walked down the aisle with La Fonda Sue Honeycutt, Anne M. Tegnell, Lyssa Rae Brittain, and Tawny Marie Chapman. Each time those marriages ended, Dog got involved in another serious relationship extremely quickly. Amazingly enough, in 1982 Dog divorced Tegnell and married Brittain. On top of all the women Dog has married, he has also proposed to partners he ultimately didn’t walk down the aisle with.

Dog and Tawny

In an ideal world, everyone who walks down the aisle would be doing so for the right reasons. In reality, however, human beings can have a variety of reasons for doing something, including getting married, despite how serious that commitment is. For example, according to what he wrote in his 2007 memoir “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide”, Dog the Bounty Hunter knew his marriage to Tawny Marie Chapman wasn’t going to work from the start.

As Dog the Bounty Hunter revealed in his aforementioned memoir, he met his ex-wife Tawny Marie Chapman when he arrested her for possession of an illicit substance. After taking Champman into custody, Dog decided that he wanted to help her seek a new life so he hired her to be his secretary and before long the two became a couple.

Unfortunately, before Dog the Bounty Hunter and Tawny Marie Chapman began dating, he’d already met Beth Chapman and fallen for her. However, at that time Beth was young enough that Dog felt that it would be inappropriate to get involved with her but he couldn’t let go of those feelings. As a result, his affections were split when he married her which is almost certainly why Dog told E! News that “in his heart”, he knew marrying Tawny Marie “was a mistake”.

Ultimately, after Dog the Bunter Hunter and Tawny Marie Chapman got married in 1992, they separated in 1994 and then finally got divorced in 2002. Based on what Dog has said about the relationship, it seems like two main things doomed their marriage. First off, Dog clearly continued to have feelings for Beth Chapman. After all, Dog once admitted that he was unfaithful during his marriage to Tawny Marie. "Truth be told, Beth and I were sleeping together the entire time I was married to Tawny and throughout her marriage to Keith." While that seems insurmountable enough, Dog has also alleged that Tawny Marie remained addicted to amphetamines and that was a big problem for their marriage.
